The Time - 2041

The Place - Earth

A comet is detected on a collision course to earth by the S.T.O. (Spacial Threat Observatory) in south America. The date for the impact is December 19th, 2044. Within days of this information being let out, panic spreads across the world, markets crash, economy collapses everywhere. Even with combined cooperation from the world's governments, the comet's impact seems inevitable. Nuclear deflection is impossible, the comet is too soft, long-range laser defence is only experimental, and wouldn't be able to tap the comet's path, even a landing mission is impossible, the frigid comet would freeze anything close it it. Even ontop of this, the comet is more than 20.4 kilometers in size, ruining any other chances of deflection.

They have only one choice, evacuate. Not just a single country, or even a continent. The entire world must be evacuated of as much organic matter as possible. The I.S.P. (International Space Program, established in 2018) begins immediately to construct massive vessals, 'city-ships' as they are called, though smaller than a city. The entire world chips into the effort, virtually every country on the planet works towards the single goal of saving humanity.

The Time - December 4th, 2044

Just a short few weeks before impact, millions of people emerge across the planet, all wanting to be saved from the threat of destruction. But, to no avail, the city-ships simply cannot hold everything. Only the strongest, smartest and most important people are lead onto the ships, along with many species of animals and plants. The population cries out and smashes the reinforced doors of the city-ships as they take off, but they are left to die. The destination of the city ships is the Earth-sized planet Pateos, the only inhabitable planet within range. Rather, it is the only place that will take less than 15 years to get too, the limit of the city ships' supplies, and farming capacities. As the ships glide through space, they see the spectacular cosmic event of the comet crashing into Earth, obliterating it’s surface in a hellish firestorm, that engulfs the planet in flame, and takes the lives of all those who were left behind.

However, the witness to their home’s destruction is not the only toil humanity faces on its 14-year trip to Pateos. Shortages of food from lack of appropriate crops and sunlight on the city-ships' farms and instability in governments lead to civil war, and along with it, the destruction of over half the city-ships. 15 remained at this time. However, disease outbreaks, along with terrorist groups trying to hog food and water for themselves lead to the abandonment of 2 city ships, and the fleeing of another. The last year of the journey to Pateos soon approaches, but even newer threats have taken hold of the goverments of the city ships.

Multiple assasinations form the terrorist groups lead to seperation of goverments, and collapse. Fairly soon, new groups and country-like organizations of people form, based off new rudimentry philosphies. These range from religous to enviromental to industrial beliefs in that those certain things being focused on will lead to the best development of mankind. One the last days of the journey, thte city-ships descend into Pateos' atmosphere, firmly landing themselves on the surface of the planet. Fairly soon, the planet is flooded with oxygen and microorganisms. It's gravitational field holds int he oxygen, and the organisms succeed in breaking down dirt and rock matter in proper matter. Now, plant-life and animal-life is released, establishing a stable ecosystem for the humans aboard the city ships. With this the go-ahead is made for planetary colonization, and humans emerge onto this new world.

However... they do not know the dangers of the new life they seek...

As you can see, this is the plot for a new game I am designing, 'Age of Apcolypse'. It will be my first game, and I want to make sure I have an acceptable plot. Tell me what to edit, please.

The game itself will be in a style of C&C (Building a base and whatnot), with mini-games for hero units. It will also have a variety of events, side-plots and one main-plot.

I am designing it to have one emmensly large techtree, which can be accsessed through by the unit production buildings and one research facility which can be speciliazed. There will be aproximetely 2 upgrades per unit, and the regular armor/weapon damage upgrades aswell. In total, there will be between 5-7 units produced in each unit-production building.

In the beginning of the game, you have a 'Colony' along with one commander, (hero), and two Assault Marines. You harvest resources off wood nad stone through the classic way from resource collectors, but have no way of gathering gold.

Terrain & Creeps

The terrain for Age of Apocalypse is mainly comprised of land, with very few patches of water, as there are no water units in the game. There are small sections of the map covered in outland rock, with native plant life, commonly these areas have stronger creeps with life native to Pateos. When you leave the planet’s atmosphere, you enter a small ‘space’ zone, where you can build space stations and orbital structures. There are 3 ‘instances’ and one ‘stadium’. The instances will be explained later. The stadium is an ‘Agreed site of military testing and Gladiator Matches’, in other words, a place where you can send your heroes in to face pre-set enemies and each other.

The creeps are mostly creatures from earth, such as bears and other animal life. However, native life such as wildkin-type monsters and lizard like beasts are also abundant in the planet. Creatures are also sometimes put underground, where larger beasts may be. These larger creatures sometime drop special items. However, often enough nothing is dropped from these behemoths, but they do offer a large amount of exp for heroes. Terrorist group creeps are also sometimes situated around valuable resources such as gas.

Tyrant – You are an evil and dark leader, forcing the cruellest laws on your citizens, and trying to conquer anyone who gets in your way. The damage and attack speed of your forces increases by 30%, but prevents you from allying other players.
------------------------------
Peace Keepers – You desire a diplomatic victory in this world, and therefore your people are somewhat ignorant of danger, however, your ways allow you to better benefit from alliances. Grants you 50 gold and resources every 30 seconds for every alliance you have, also reduces the cost of allying aliens by 50%. However, the damage of your forces is reduced by 35%

There are also numerous events in the game, these will happen every 15 minutes.

Events

Abundant Harvest – Causes you to gain an extra 100 resources every 20 seconds for the next 3 minutes.
------------------------------
Meteor – A meteor is heading towards Pateos, and can perminately scar the planet. The meteor takes one minute to hit, and will deal 2750 damage in a 1000 AOE wherever it hits. However, it will be floating through space for the last 20 seconds of its trip, where it can be destroyed with a large enough space fleet.
------------------------------
Alien – an alien has crash landed on Pateos, if you find him within the next minute, he may be grateful to you if you assist him in his repairs of his ship. If you help him (1000 resources), he will give you 1750 gold and one special item in return.
------------------------------
Space Pirates – Space pirates are raiding Pateos! Waves of hostile units will attack everyone’s bases.
------------------------------
Endgame – This happens when red uses the –Endgame command. Pateos’ core has become unstable, and now humans must flee Pateos! But, the city ships are too far interlocked with Pateos’ crust. One player needs to destroy all the others and gather the pieces of the other cityships to make a safe enough ship to flee. The players have 20 minutes for the endgame. At the 15 minute interval in this endgame mode, no other event will occur. After the 5 minute interval, massive spires of flame will begin erupting form Pateos’ core. At 10 minutes, this will be coupled with massive volcanoes and earthquakes. At the 15 minute interval, parts of Pateos’ will rip apart and shatter life, gravitational disruptions will cripple buildings, and implosions will kill even more. At the 20 minute interval Pateos collapses in from the center of the map, and will kill anything. This final explosion takes 2 minutes to engulf the entire planet.

There are many instance-like areas in the world of Pateos, which reveal its history, its secrets, and the secrets of others. You cannot fight other players in instances.

Instances

The Lost Ship – (The ship comes to orbit 30 minutes after game starts) Late in the journey to Pateos, one of the city-ships fled the fleet, due to numerous terrorist threats. Now it has returned to Pateos, giving out radio silence and no life signs. Upon investigation (which can be done by using a heavy transport and using the teleport button into the docking bay of the ship, and then drop troops onto the ship) it appears that the ship is abandoned. After collecting data from ship logs, the puzzle pieces fall together. The logs tell of captain of the ship decided to commence a return to Pateos, and rejoin the other city ships.

However, en route the ship met up with an odd alien race, who spoke with the citizens of the ship through a highly-advanced form of telepathy. They identified themselves as a race of ‘eaters’, who live in a ship composed of a world. Fairly soon, the city ship developed an agreement with the aliens, and one of the alien transported over to the ship VIA a sort of bio-electrical molecular transportation. It was completely biological; however, it did have some slight mechanical implants. Only a few moments after the transport, the alien slaughtered anything in its site. It used biological weapons, launching incredibly powerful acids and biological-explosive propelled projectiles to tear apart the guards. Its carapace proved incredibly resilient to percussion weapons, and was only slightly injured by explosive weapons. It was forced out of the deck, but by non-conventional tactics. It actually had to be vented out by blowing a hole in the hull of the cityship. The ship that had dropped the creature off departed after it was destroyed, without even firing a shot.

A few weeks later, as the logs tell, odd symptoms were taking over the crew that had fought with this creature. Hair loss, warts, pimples, skin discoloration. After medical examination, it was obvious that had been infected with a sort of microorganism, possibly brought by the creature. They were quarantined, but to no avail, soon every member of the crew was infected. Those in quarantine started having uncontrollable spasms and growths, followed by mumbling and insanity. Soon, their minds seemed to collapse. Disgusting blood-covered spines broke from their skin, and there muscle mass expanded five fold.

'2:40 PM The-they-they are chasing me. Everyone! They shattered the quarantine glass like it was nothing... None of them are themselves anymore... I think there becoming that.. that thing that infected us. I have to go now, less they come find where I'm hiding.' -The last medical bay log.

The mutant crew stormed through the ship, and were soon joined by others with the disease. Their skin had become harder than steel, strong enough to repel bullets, and now most of the rockets aswell. The mutants flooded the ship, killing everything.

'4:53 AM This is Captain Gafred. They're slamming on the doors of the bridge, I don't think we will be making it to Pateos alive. They're thousands out there. Every man, women and child.. changed.. -You hear a shattering in the background- SHIT! THEY'VE BROKEN THROUGH! OPEN F -The log ends with nothing but garbled screams, and gunfire-'

This instance leads you through a maze of corpses and blood, with no real threats except for automated defence droids. There are no corpses of the mutants, just humans. After you get to the bridge and get the last message, a trail of green blood leads you to the arboretum, where the last of the creatures are show disappearing in a burst of yellow light. However, the plants are being injested by a massive organsism, which you have to destroy. It deals 200-200 chaos damage with a splash, throwing acid. It has 3000 hp and the ability to spawn smaller organsisms which will attack your forces. When it is killed, all heros inside the city ship gain the 'carapace peice' item, which gives a 50% chance to prevent 30 damage from hitting the hero. The players also receive 2000 resources and gold, and 2 'Cityship-Droids', one being fast and deadly, the other slow and tankish.
You gain acsess to the Neraxian race for allying 5 minutes after you beat this event, it was the invaders.

------------------------------
The Tower - This begins when a series of spacial distortions are detected around Pateos, and portals peroidically open where you can move your forces into them. After searching, you find a series of partially-destroyed robot lifeforms, showing signs of anti-matter scarring. After further investigation, the robots regenrate, attacking you at random. More of them arrive through other passages, trying to slaughter your army.

Well! You could have, in the final days before liftoff of the city ships, riots on the streets. It would be impossible to fit 7000000000+ people into space ships, and logically some people would be left behind. The smartest, strongest, and the necessary have been chosen to been taken, and the others are not happy. Before the days of liftoff, many armed riots try to force their way into the city ships, so that they may live. Several city ships would be destroyed in the process. It would lead to a very frantic escape from Earth, with rioters smashing at the doors of the city ships, trying to gain access or trying to spite those who were arbitrarily determined "better" by the power that be.

The same idea would be for inside the city ships. The task of determining how much supplies humans would need for a 14 year trip would be nigh impossible, and amassing that number would be completely impossible. Most people would have to farm inside of the ships, the farms taking up most of the land. If ever something went wrong with the farms, there would be a shortage, possibly leading to the same "selection" process as earlier. There could be civil war in the city ships, with the source of food and water being the goal. Farmers would have disproportionate power in these city ships. But again, this is only if something goes wrong on the ships.

Edited to all current requests, though due to the first one the second does not apply as much. Though the Comet's size is given. Now there be civil war.

Maybe, the cityship you control could discover a city ship filled with corpses and skeletons, which has many "logs" that tell cryptic messages about what has happened to them. They tell about how they somehow had the means to arrive faster than the others to the planet. And then they (the monsters) come. To kill you.

Sort of like the Moria scene in LOTR:
We have barred the gates, but can not hold them for long. We can not get out. They have taken the Bridge and the Second Hall. Frar and Loni and Nali fell there. The pool is up to the wall at the Westgate. The Watcher in the water took Oin. We can not get out. The end comes. Drums, drums in the deep. They are coming."

Oooo, looks fancy! Maybe you should make some "primitive" aliens. Like, you can ally with smart and evolved aliens (example, Predator) but then there are other aliens that have not discovered technology and are just wild beasts (Aliens/Xenomorphs) And then one of the alien factions will ask you to exterminate them while another faction asks you to preserve them since they are endangered, thus giving you a choice between who to ally with.

It's only a single planet thing. Also, the other aliens live far far away. However, there will be native life in special zones, so I could create an Ecofreaks specialty which will reward you with neutrality to these critters. Also, I think I might make it so that there will be ecopreservation missions, but instead of removing an alien race for you to ally, it just lessens/increases the cost of allying with them.
