Hello, I am making a map and I have a problem, I want my map to be very very big, but after 384 x 352 it can't get any bigger. I am using JassNewGen as Editor, do you have any suggestions so I can make my map much bigger than it currently is?

I tried it 400x400 but it couldn't save! 384 x 352 is very very small for me, I wanna make about 20 EPIC BIG EXTRA KINGDOM's where they all have farms and castles and houses inside it and I only made 1 epic big extra kingdom and like 8 more which has to be very smaller than I wanted thanks to space, anyone has an idea? Also what do you mean Heinvers? You meant JNPG?

All I can say is:

1) re-evaluate the content of your map
2) think about decreasing the scale of your objects - making everything smaller effectively increases the size of your terrain
3) bigger doesn't mean better (except for penises)

And what if we are trying to re-create Skyrim?

Also, there can be errors even with a multiple of 32 map size (e.g. 480 x 480)?

What sort of bugs/errors (what causes them?)? Or are they random occurring (the map just doesn't load half the time or crashes rarely)?

The blight bug is the main one. I don't even know if it is true--I haven't personally experienced it. But this is from the GrimEx manual:

Additionally the possibility to create epic 480 x 480 maps has been added to the editor. But watch out, some people have told me about blight not working properly in maps that large.

I haven't heard about crashing or anything like that directly related to the map size.

If you are trying to recreate skyrim, you'll be better off having multiple maps (similar to Rexxar's campaign). Use 480x480 if you need multiplayer, but just note that it'll add a considerable amount to the file size alone (since much of environmental data is written based on tile points. More tile points = more data required), and it'll often take a long long time to fill up all that space. But it is up to you. :) Sometimes it is easier to start off with 480x480 and then just use the space that is necessary, and then decrease the size. Just note that it'll be an absolute pain to save the map (probably half your mapping time will be spent waiting for your map to save in the editor).

One thing to watch out for on the 480x480 maps is that at around the 38k mark for your destructible doodads, the map crashes when loading in game before the progress bar can even finish loading. I have encountered this on the map I am making now and had I not put so much work into this map before discovering this issue I would have scaled it back quite a bit and just found a way to make the smaller map size work.
