Request for Help!

Hive has been a great resource for me over the years, I've never had to make a thread until now and I'm hoping someone can help....

Long story short, my PC crashed as I was saving my map. This has resulted in it becoming un-loadable, "main map file could not be opened".

From the reading I have done, its game over for that file, my only hope now is that I recall there used to be a temporary file that the world editor created before it launched your map.
Having tested it minutes before the crash, I am hoping that its skulking round on my system somewhere waiting to be found.

I have looked in the Warcraft3/JASSHELPER file and tried to load the latest file in there, but it comes up with the same error.

Anyone out there with experience or thoughts on how I could resolve this?

I have a backup, but it is from quite a while ago, and a lot of work has gone into it since.

Thanks,

Tyr.

Depending on what was saved before it crashed you might be able to extract the object or terrain or trigger data from the map and import it into an older version. Open the map with an mpq editor and extract the appropriate files (you'll have to look that up, I'm not sure specifically).
