I have a PNG, that I want to turn into an object like this:

floortile.jpg

It is just a floor tile, I have a program that can save it as a BLP, but thats as far as I have gotten

For that size floor tile what pixel size should it be?

The file size seems to be about 57kb at 256x256 blp is that about right?

Launch Magos' Model Editor, go to File -> Open, set "Files of type" to "All files (*.*)" instead of "Warcraft 3 models (*.mdl, *.mdx)" and then open your BLP file. Magos automatically generates a square model with your texture.

Then go to Windows -> Texture manager. You will see one entry, containing the full path of the texture on your hard drive. For example "C:\Folder\Directory\Place\Texture.blp". Now, since when you import the mode into your map, it will not be able to find the texture that way, you have to set its path.

To do it, in the Texture manager do right ckick -> Import. Import the same texture you opened as a model (Yeah, it's a bit retarded.) It will show up as just "Texture.blp". No path.

Then go to Windows -> Material Manager and change the texture from "C:\Folder\Directory\Place\Texture.blp" with "Texture.blp"/

Now that you don't need the texture twice, return to the Texture manager, right click on the "C:\Folder\Directory\Place\Texture.blp" entry and select Remove.

Save the model as mdx and you are ready.

I tried that, imported it and got nothing but that green/black cube in editor.

Yes, I imported, then saved, then assigned it to something.

This is still not working.

I open BLP Laboratory
Open my PNG
Save it as BLP
Open BLP with War3ModelEditor
I import the BLP in the texture window
I go to Material Manager and change the path to the new imported BLP
I go to Texture Window, Delete the BLP with the long path.
I save model as MDX
I import the BLP
I Import the MDX
I delete the war3imported before the BLPs name
I save map
I close editor
I open Editor
I add the MDX to a doodad
I place Doodad
I get green/black box in my map.

Variations is set to 1

If you get a green box it's something wrong with the model.

Moved to Modeling & Animation board.
