Hello all I am having troubles using Magos War3 Model Editor. Here is what I have done so far and the issues that I have tried troubleshooting by reading the pages and pages of others who have had trouble installing this tool.

Gone to registry edit and created folders:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\Warcraft III\
*I made Warcraft III as a key and then made a String Value called InstallPath

It did not work.

I also tried someone elses tip:

You are using the Reforged version, right? Since there is no "Warcraft III" registry key for this version inside "Blizzard Entertainment", you can simply create it by yourself and then just create that required key with your game installation folder (usually in "C:\Program Files\Warcraft III").

Alternatively, try using this one: "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Blizzard Entertainment\Warcraft III".
Instead of "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blizzard Entertainment".

Can someone help me understand why it is not working for me? Or post a video (I am using Windows 10).

Thank you!

Well, which value did you put into the installPath registry key? It won't work if it's empty. That string should be the filepath to the Warcraft 3 folder.
So when I right click Blizzard Entertainment I selected New>Key> (Named it) Warcraft III

And then I right click Warcraft>String Value> (Named it) Install Path

How do I give it a value?

Edit: i double clicked the Install Path and saw the value data is blank. Is this where you mean I need to input something?

The path to where you have the game installed. E.g. D:\Warcraft III\

I also tried: C:\Program Files (x86)\Warcraft III

as well as C:\Warcraft III

After I tried these fixes Magos 1.09 still won't open with same errors:

Yes, should be C:\Program Files (x86)\Warcraft III in your case. If that doesn't work, there may be other problems afoot too. But I am curious, are you able to use W3ME after clicking "OK" on all those errors? (not the mpq browser, but everything else)
No I am not able to use 1.09 it closes automatically. But I can use 1.07 (no error messages), but the tree does not show at all. This one always worked but I don't get access to any mpqs.

Edit: also i am trying to make these changes firstly under:
Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\Blizzard Entertainment\Warcraft III

and secondly I try:

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Blizzard Entertainment\Warcraft III

The final (4th error before it closes says): An unknown error has occured.

SECOND EDIT: i changed "Install Path" to "InstallPath" and made sure Warcraft III was the capital letter I not anything else. But it still didn't work :(

For anyone having trouble opening the "MPQ Browser" stuff, this might help you:
After further looking in to things it turns out recently Blizzard added the ability in battlenet to be able to download the Legacy client (by going to Game Version on the Battle Net Launcher) and downloadin Legacy, this creates a Warcraft III (Legacy) folder next to your Warcraft III install from where you can get the MPQ models via the W3ME MPQ browser, in case anyone runs in to this issue.
You must have the "InstallPath" reg with correct value installed first, and that value must be the directory where you installed the game as Bogdan pointed out.

Edit: Sorry for a small mistake. If you go to the route detailed by vuccapellia, you must point your "InstallPath" reg to the Legacy installation folder for MPQ.

That wont work if you point it to your Reforged directory (which is what I did and I assume most users have as its simply called Warcraft III), you need to point it to a classic (Legacy) version. So, if you're a user that is trying to open the mpq files, you need the legacy client and to point to there or manually load them from that folder. This is the problem I had.
