Lost localizations for pre-reforged versions that support widescreen and high refresh rate ?

Plenty of voice lines have been lost with the re-dub of Warcraft 3 when Reforged came out. This topic will mainly focus on foreign localizations which we can still find in the MPQ files from versions like 1.27 available here. My goal is to have the most polished version of pre-reforged Warcraft 3 (in French in my case).

The voice lines can be extracted from the .MPQ files thanks to MPQEditor.
Now the problem is the file format refactoring the game went through in its last pre-reforged versions. Take a look at this:

1.29 -> Widescreen update | MPQ format
1.30 -> High refresh rate update | CASC format
1.31 -> Reforged | CASC format (but supports local files through the "./retail" folder)

The thing is that I have no clue on how to edit the content of the CASC files and im not even sure this is possible. All I've found is CASC Viewer which allows as said in its name to "view" the content of the builds, not edit them as we could with the MPQ.

So i see these questions coming:
  • Q: "Why not patch reforged with your voice lines ?"
  • A: "To conserve the old Menu UI for LAN multiplayer and campaign. And most importantly have a ~1.9GB game instead of the 40GB Reforged is"

  • Q: "Why are you not patching your 1.27 game in the language of your choice with the patch installers till you get to the 1.30 version ?
  • A: "Blizzard stopped the patches system since 1.28"

If any of you has a solution, please consider to share it, it's important for this pre-reforged game not to become a lost media when it comes to foreign distrubutions.
Thanks in advance !

The CascView's purpose is just like MPQEditor. You can still open the CASC and extract any WC3 contents out of the CASC there.
The only problem is that you can't override any original WC3 contents with the modified one inside the CASC. The game will try to repair itself if it detects a corruption/modification in the game files. That's why using the Local Files is highly recommended if you have Warcraft III that comes with Reforged format.
Also, I believe Reforged uses the FLAC (the buggy one) as its main audio format instead of the usual MP3/WAV, but we all knew that you can still use any modified MP3/WAV files in Reforged (not OGG, for sure).

As i said, my goal is to have a custom localization on a Pre-Reforged version of the game, not on a Reforged build.
Do the pre-reforged versions of the game that are in CASC format (aka 1.29 < game < 1.31) support the use of local files ? If yes, how/where are they supposed to be placed ?

All versions of Warcraft III support the use of Local Files. In order to install any mods with the Local Files, you have to enable it through the registry trick.
Please refer to this thread if you still get confused: Local files
