Is it just me, or are some of the names in starcraft 2 simply horrid?

Roaches -just about as imaginative as Buzzers from C&C 3

The AH/G-24 Banshee - Instead of recyling "Wraith" lets stick random letters and numbers infront of the name of a vehicle that is all too familiarized with Halo.

TF-620 Nomad - The frozen what? A flying scv... right...

Mothership - So... now we are playing Homeworld?... And.. instead of having the nexus be our command center lets have a flying one as well.

Graviton Beam - Maybe it was the way he said it (Battle report 3) but it sounded pretty trekky to me.

I think the bottomline is that they aren't going to beat the classics they made in the original game, and will end up making a huge mess of whatever names they dont recycle.

...And here come the flamers now :pal:

Roaches are awesome! Just because another game uses a name doesn't mean Starcraft can't.

OH RL uses Marines, guess Blizzard can't use that... Mothership isn't original, but it fits perfectly.

I'll agree with Banshee and Nomad (but I think the Nomad is called a Nighthawk now).
Banshees are piloted by men too which is doubly stupid.

Graviton Beam is fine. If you can think of a better name, mail them :p

The Banshee ain't a remake of the Wraith... The Wraith was stealthy anti-air. The Banshee on the other hand is a stealthy anti-building and anti-ground (too bad it no longer has AoE thought).
