A little info:
Killing Floor started off as a Unreal Tournament 2004 mod released in 2005. The mod wasn't all that popular at first. The first version of the mod had a singleplayer story mode, but that wasn't all that popular and people preferred the multiplayer mode. The mod had it's own small community players.

In 2006 the mod was released again as Killing Floor 2.0. This mod had completely remade models for players, weapons, enemies and maps. Still it didn't grow all that popular but it's player base grew a little. Later version 2.1 was released, but after that the creator (Alex) suddenly dissapeared for a while. The community of the game grew anxious and in the end created their own community patch: 2.11.

After the community patch was released Alex returned and started working on version 2.5, which was released in 2008. This version included a new weapon: flamethrower and also better and more detailed models for the specimen and better atmosphere for some maps. 2.5 got alot of attention on Games and mods development for PC XBOX Playstation Nintendo - Mod DB and the playerbase grew considerably. Alex started working on version 2.51 which was supposed to include HD models for specimens and also a new specimen.

Then suddenly everything just went completely silent and Alex no longer told us about the progress of the mod. Then suddenly Killing Floor was announced as a game of it's own.

Gameplay:

The mod's multiplayer is about 6 players surviving attacks from Specimen (basically mutant clones). The game had 10 waves of enemies, each wave being bigger and having stronger specimen to fight. As soon as the Specimen spawned they started heading towards the players in order to tear them into shreds. Some of the Specimen have special abilities like spitting acid or charging towards the player. One of the interesting things with the mod was that it didn't any sort of crosshair and only a few weapons had an ironsight. Removing their head doesn't kill them but it removes their special ability and also deals lots of damage to them.

Killing Specimen rewarded the player with money which they could use to buy grenades, body armor, ammo and guns from the merchant between waves. When Specimen spawn the merchant closes it's doors and any player who is still inside the shop gets teleported out. Then you just kill all the specimen. There are also supply spawn points around maps where random weapons and ammo spawn occasionally.
The game will most likely play the same as the mod.

Weapons and tools:
Killing Floor comes with 13 weapons and 2 tools.
Melee:
-Knife: the basic melee weapon. Has a normal swing attack, which quite honestly was pretty useless in the mod, and an alternative attack which is pretty much a 'power slash' which was quite useful against basic enemies. This weapon is good when running past enemies.
-Broken Pipe: Deals more damage than the knife and also stuns enemies for longer time. Most people do not use this thought, unless they find it on the ground. Usually people rather use the knife or buy the Fire Axe.
-Fire Axe:Slower than the knife or the Broken Pipe but deals a whole lot more damage and also can strike alot of enemies at once. Also stuns most of specimen for a while. Some people even preferred to use this as their main weapon.

Ranged:
-9 mm Tactical: The basic firearm which you start with. The standard 9 mm caliber handgun is fast and has a built-in flashlight, useful against all sorts of weak enemies, especially Crawlers and Clots, and can also be dual wielded for double the capacity, firepower and speed.
-9 Bullpup: A fast shooting carbine with a scope that is very versatile against the majority enemies. Thanks to the scope you can easily shoot enemies at their head.
-9 Flamethrower: A very fast torrent of flaming fuel is expelled out of this weapon. Be careful though, as it leaves flaming traces and if you walk forward you will burn, as well as burn allies (even if friendly fire is off).
-9 Handcannon: A .50 caliber AE handgun, it is much powerful than the 9 mm and is very effective against Gorefasts and Scrakes.
-9 Shotgun: The well known shotgun needs no introduction. Effective against Scrakes, Gorefasts and Sirens.
-9 Hunting Shotgun: The hunting shotgun is one of the most powerful weapons in Killing Floor, most effective at short ranges.
-9 Winchester: The famous American .44 caliber Winchester rifle. Effective at most ranges, it is wisely used by snipers with the Sharpshooter Perk, as it is very effective against most enemies by head shots.
-9 Compound Crossbow: Also called the Xbow or simply Crossbow, this is a classic bolt launcher, which includes a 4X scope and auto reload after every shot. Bolts which have been shot are recoverable for reuse if they didn't hit a target previously.
-9 L.A.W: The Light Anti-armour Weapon is the most expensive weapon, as it is the strongest weapon you can hold. Careful though, as it causes massive splash damage, so it is a good idea not to shoot too close in range to an enemy.
-9 Frag Grenade: A must have, the classic frag grenade explodes with devastating force capable of eliminating large numbers of crowded specimens and easily breaking open welded doors.

Tools and equipment:
-Welder:Every player has this from the start. The welder is used to weld doors shut. Doors are welded shut in order to slow down the specimen. The specimen can still however beat the door down.
-Medical Syringe:Every player has this from the start. The Medical Syringe is used to heal yourself and teammates. The medical syringe has a charging "syringe bar" which indicates if you can use it or not. Using it on yourself consumes the whole bar and heals roughly half of your health. Using it on your teammate heals roughly half of their health and consumes only half of the syringe bar.
-Body Armor:This must be bought from the merchant. This gives you an armor health bar which is consumed instead if your health from damage.

The Specimen:
The Specimen are the enemies in the game.
-Clot: The weakest enemy you will encounter in Killing Floor. They often appear in groups with one or two Bloats on their tail. Clots are the most common enemies, occurring in all the waves and usually in the largest number. While they may not seem dangerous, their numbers may overwhelm players who try to combat them. However, the main danger of Clots lies in their habit of distracting players from the more powerful and dangerous specimens.
-Bloat: Bloats are the strongest of the early wave enemies that you will encounter, and have moved from v1's slow-moving colossus to horrific flesh-walls of corrosion. They have a great amount of strength and resistance, as one can most likely imagine by their size.
-Stalker: Speed and stealth. The stalker is master of both. Her naked feet barely cause a sound, and she has been conditioned to shift her weight when moving in such a manner that she can reach a steady jog without betraying her whereabouts. Because of this, victims will often be attacked from behind or from the sides before they know that the stalker is anywhere near them.
-Gorefast: Out of all the enemies this abomination is the most determined to ventilate you and your team-mates. The Gorefast is a mid-game enemy. He can cover a good amount of ground fairly quickly, inflict a good deal of pain and can prove to be difficult to destroy. Once a Gorefast gets up-close to his prey, his speed increases rapidly, hence the name Gorefast.
-Crawler: Evasive and annoying. While the Crawler is physically weak and can't handle a lot of punishment, in the eyes of even a seasoned survivor they are envisioned as one of the worst of pests. Attacking in small packs with speed and agility, they are a good reason for you to be on your guard.
-Siren: The Siren is not a particularly mobile foe, as she doesn't need to be. In an enclosed space, her voice can resonate and deal tremendous amounts of damage to anyone nearby. She has been known to bite at her victims when they are close enough, but her true ability is an ear-splitting scream. Her voice is so powerful it can detonate incoming grenades or rockets in mid air. It is recommended to take out this enemy before others, due to the distortion from her shriek, which makes nearby humans dizzy and renders all weapons inaccurate.
-Scrake: The Scrake is not a particularly speedy foe. It lumbers along unsteadily toward its target, favoring its heavier arm - the site of a grafted chainsaw. In combat, the specimen is capable of delivering a series of extremely deadly blows from its chainsaw arm which tends to catch the victim's body and pull him in still closer. Such attacks have been known to impale people entirely and, as the unlucky prey struggle to pull free, make mincemeat of their innards. Scrake's skin is like a thick, leathery hide. Because of that, they are highly resistant to small firearms and feel almost no pain, proven by their laughing dying corpse
-Fleshpound: The Fleshpound has a number of unique characteristics. First, it can take large amounts of damage — thanks to the constant supply of stimulants (including adrenaline) pumping through its blood, the plate metal that has been grafted into its body, and its sheer physical size. It is a fairly ponderous foe, until it has become "enraged." When this occurs, the monitor on the Fleshpound's chest will glow bright red instead of its usual amber and it will start to charge towards its prey. It can walk as fast as a running human, and when enraged, it can sprint outstandingly fast. The Fleshpound cannot be stunned. Therefore, avoid melee combat with it at all costs.
-Patriarch: The Patriarch was an enemy intended as a final boss that attacked the players alone in the last wave in version 2.51. However version 2.51 was never released. In interviews it has been said thought that the game will feature this specimen. The Patriarch was supposed to be armed with a gun in it's hand which was a combination of many weapons. It was supposed to be able to spray bullets fast at the player with the minigun portion of it's gun and also burn the players with it's flamethrower at closer range. At closer range the Patriarch would hit players with it's blade-hand and deal alot of damage. it could also lash out at the enemy with tentacles from it's stomach.

Seems creepy judging the screens, i do preffer playing against AI in a scary game because that way you know there is not a human player you opposing against

(Like in L4D, let's be honest the horde can't do anything without the special zombies!(except for expert offcourse but L4D is NOT scary just INSANE))

But a computer enemy, get it?

Anyways, what engine does the game use?

And i hope there will be lots of gore and goreshots upon kills, and yay! mutants instead of the come-back of the zombies (i mean their popularity).

The game uses modified 2.5 Unreal Engine if I remember correct (old yes, but looks good enough IMO).

Also if the game will be like the mod, there should be gibbing as in bodies being blow to bits.

The gore! The gore!

I think it's quite similar to L4D, but with a bigger variety of everything. I'm not sure if it will succeed in taking control of the zombie fanbase.

As for me, I'm bored of mutant/zombie killing games, but it's still good if the mentioned species show up besides other intelligent enemies, as in Far Cry for example.
