Longstoryshort. When Blizzard saw Sc2 maps with WoW models, they were like, LAWL.

That's all they did, so in fact, we haven't decided about that rule. For now, we let WoW resources exist in our Sc2 resource section only, but if Blizzard drops the hammer, we will remove them from the database, along with any maps containing them.

that's not the reason why we had the rule in the first place. The reason has to do with WoW's terms of use in which it specifies that extracting material from the game without explicit concern of Blizzard Entertaiment is forbidden and breaks those terms.

It's right that blizzard doesn't pay attention to some things and it's mainly because they have few to economical impact to them. Unless the problem has a big economical impact (like recreating diablo 3 in sc2 with d3's models), they won't take legal actions. It's also pàrt of their marketing policy in which by no terms they should be agressive to their modding community (After all, the modding community actualy increases blizzard's shares and improves the ovrall quality of their products by providing extra content).

Basically, what BlinkBoy means is that it IS illegal, but Blizzard hasn't dropped the hammer on model exporting for use in THEIR other games. In fact, not only it does not have an impact on their economics, but it actually gives them an economical boost. A small, but hell, they are entertaining you, thus it's good for them.

In my opinion, WoW models should be allowed for Sc2, but not for Wc3 since they don't fit in.

Excuse me but that's not what I said. What I said was that they'll only drop the hammer once it damages them. They actualy did MAKE legal actions against an Starcraft mod which recreated Wc3 in SC by using Wc3 models and rendering them into graphic sprites technology (used by original SC).

The reason why we don't allow it is because we don't know when it would turn against blizzard's wishes and decide to do legal actions against us. The site is just saving it's back by not allowing them.
