If there is a Paired Mapping Contest, then those who want to live on the edge and do evrything to himself/herself will want to enter this contest. This is just an idea and a draft that I want to share w/ you guys..

Solo Mapping Contest #??

Introduction:
This is the first Solo Mapping Contest where you have to create a map, from scratch, by yourself.

Theme:
The theme for this map is Towers Meaning you have to create a map that involves the creation of Towers to kill creeps and to step on to the next level. The following genres/concepts may be allowed in this contest.

- Tower Defense (Cooperative, Survival or any TD's)
- Maul maps (same as TD but with a different terrain layout)
- Tower Wars
- Mini-games that require towers to reap the benefits of gameplay in the map.
- Any map that considers Towers a major factor in the gameplay....

Rules:
- Global site rules may apply in the thread.
- The map must be created from scratch. No modified versions of already published maps, as this results in a disqualification.
- Maps should be solo-made or made by just only one mapmaker.
- Entries must be unprotected so that judges and other members can view triggers and data inside the map.
- The map must be created before the contest has begun.
- Entries must be under 4 megabytes.
- Imports like models, skins, systems, or spells, or any other imported content are allowed, and thus you must credit the makers of these resources.
- Boss levels may be incorporated in your map, even with special attributes.

Criteria/Judging:
1) Originality
- How original is the map? Does the map add a new element in the genre, or is it just like other TD's previously released to the public?
- Does the map have unique towers and abilities and ideas?

2) Terrain
- The terrain of your TD. Was the terrain good, or just simply cliffs and grid-like layouts that make the map boring?
- Of course it is difficult to make good terrain in TD's, but you have to put your best efforts into this one in your map.

3) Quality
- How good is the quality of your map? Is your TD made well or made badly as if there were only 5 types of normal towers created with unbalanced stats?

4) Balance
- How balanced is your map? Are the creeps/towers decently balanced, or do players end up building an ownage tower killing any creep that comes near, or are non-boss creeps way too fast or tough to slay? Or are the boss level creeps have so much HP that they are close to invulnerable?

5) Triggers
- How well were the triggers in the map? Have you written the triggers properly? Are there a few errors? Are there leaks in your code?

Deadline:
The deadline of this contest is May 8,this means contestants are provided with enough time to create the map. After submitting the entry, you may edit the map but not after the deadline.

Prizes
1st Place - 60 Reputation Points and Award Icon
2nd Place - 35 Rep
3rd Place - 15 Rep


All of the winners will receive their prizes once the judging is completed.

Contestants may join by posting in this thread or by sending a PM to the one who initiated this contest. You may or may not include the name of your map but it's vital to include the name of your map.

that was just an idea written formally so that it would look like a real contest. How does it sound anyway?

If I were to do it, I would make it interesting, kind of like the Commandos game for RoC


TD's just get too damned boring (like Zoator)

It's a game where you buy "Commanders" and they are kind of like towers taht sit right by your base, they spawn a certain type + # of troops at your spawn, they also serve as defensive towers if it gets down to it

There are many rows of towers between you and the enemy, and your troops fight your enemy + the towers, then go to destroy the bases

Would've been a good map, cept the creator discontinued it with only a few updates

Similar to tech wars with the spawns, but the rows of towers make it almost completely different (commanders can attack too)

There are like 4 or 5 rows that you pretty much need to blast through to win
