Icons Faliure, help with PS CS

The first icon I made was rejected, it seems it lacks alot of freehand work but I wanted to get some rep as icons will be the simplest thing to made; I mean it more easier than 3D models but even with that I failed I found Photoshop is hard and other programs don't provide many arting option but is also complicated, especially when creating lightning effect I have to paste it from another file but that put it in a layer and prevent me from using Blur tool with the surrounding image. Can you help me guys I need to make some reputaion.
