Ok,

I'm sick of seeing CnP from games or movies or cartoons or whatever in the icons section. It's ok if you EDIT the icon significantly (not just add border, recolor or basic changes) but if not, I will delete it at once.

And through this, I am asking your opinion: Do you think I am too harsh? After all, many of us could do CnP but real icon art is what you do yourself, not copying and taking credits for yourself.

Oh, and if you see any such icons (except WoW) you are being asked to announce me. But please, don't just make assumptions. Tell me where have you seen the icon/image before. I may make some few exceptions, but don't count on this, ok?

I'm waiting for your opinions...

Same with me, I'm sick with skin that only recolor or CnP. But I think I'll give an excuse if it looks meiocore (at least).

No, you're not too harsh. Cause icon section really needs cleaning, and it's not just you and me who think so.

I agree, kill the Cnp, recolor and stealing.

the only problem with those rules is that realy good icons without DISBTN would still be deleted, so I think that if the icon is realy good you should tell the maker of the icon to make a DISBTN or else you'll delete it.

I think they should be allowed ONLY if they are an assigned icon, because it saves people from having to make one themselves every time they download a mode/skin.

if someone gives himself the job to make an skin/model of a cartoon (or whatever) character, he can also makes an icon for it, even a screeshot

its better than those trash in the icons section

btw Daelin, youre not harsh, youre in the ideal temper to deal with the icon section problems

I think icons for wc2 and "wc1" (if there is any, havent searched...) should be allowed aswell.

Ok, let's see:

Diablo crap mass is gone. It took me about an hour but around 150 icons are gone. Today I started deleting those crappy gun icons, all CnP. Man, I feel like I'm in good shape for deletion.

And since nobody has something against my juristiction, long live the Daelin way!

Well Daelin if you have deleted 150 then i recon you will have the icons section cleaned up very well good job keep up the good work.

Anyway by the looks of things this site is on its way to the top where it should be. but without the help of the mods it cant get there eh.

Ok, I'm still in a dillema, and I hope I'm doing the good thing:

There are these cool icons, it's true that they are extremely incredible, but unfortunately they are all stolen. I don't know what to do, really. I'm sure nobody could take the decision on his own. On one hand, we have some extremely cool and useful resources, while on the other hand we have copyright breaking and so, it could take the site into trouble (though it hasn't for more than a year).

My question is, should I delete an icon like this:

At the time I posted I hadn't even submitted my first spell on this site. I found out later through a PM Atlair sent me that he took them from... I don't remember where.

I'm waiting for your opinions once again.

Shit :shock:

I wanted to use this icon in my map, like many others.

Now I'm in dillema too. :? Icon is nice, however if it is stolen...

This must be solved, but how?... I think Altair should post a comment where did he take the icon from... However checking 50-100 icons again just to be sure they aren't stolen... :?

I fully support you.

No offence, but I actually think the moderation of this site is too weak, lots of craps stays, so go delete more.

And I actually think all icons from other games should be removed.

And about Atlair: You should delete all his icons, all of them are from guild wars (well, there was a few I could not remember, but they're totally Guild Wars style. And no, I do not play guild wars, but I've seen them at it's site and various screenshots).

Accepted

These following types of icons are allowed.
Have to have the metal frame
Recolors but have to look Real good
Well done icons shadowed.

A friend of me said it was looking good,
so I thought it would fit with that rule ^^.

Once again, you checked the old rules. And I think I already pointed that out. And now, let me quote:

• Plains recolors are prohibited. Simply taking an already existent icon, either from blizzard or any other user (that includes yourself, I don’t want to see five identical icons, in different colors) and recoloring without any further changes will lead to the deletion of that icon.

I hope you got it now so I want to see the icon deleted please.

Will you delete those ugly MtG icons too? I forget who sunmitted them, but I'll try and find out. They're snp from the card art, and horribly blurry as well.

Can this be a thread where we link to illegal icons for you? It'd make your job a lot easier.

I dont even see a difference from the normal version, except for the little green thing... The icon section needs alot of cleanup >.>.

Unfortunately for now there is no rule preventing such icons from being posted. BUT, what do you say about this rule?

Screenshot icons or recolors are not accepted for Blizzard units/buildings. Or else I would see like... 10 demon hunters, 15 taurens and so on. Do you find it a good idea?

Yep Daelin its a good idea, recolors usually are very crappy, and recolors of blizzard stuff... Meh... Delete them!!!

And screenshots, pff, shouldent be allowed at all, no matter what game they are from :?

Drawing a tauren icon from scratch aint the same as recoloring it nor is it the same as making a screenshot, so yes it would get accepted.

Heh, ok. If Oz02 says so, go ahead and PM me.

Oh, and about the rules, I meant it for blizzard original skins/models not custom edited. So if you make a custom skin/model, you can make a recolor/screenshot to help people get an icon and use it ingame. However, all blizzard units/buildings icons should be freehand.

I will soon add the rules but right now I have to go to school so no time for that.

naw man i mean like... if they copy it from d2 for no reason remove it... but if the submitter used it in a "themed" map aka starcraft, diablo, eq i wouldnt delete it... you know?

Ok, let's end this subject (diablo icons) because it's pointless. If you would've checked the rules, you would have seen that stolen icons are illegal, and that so is CnP.

I don't care how useful the icons are. If someone uses those icons into his map, it doesn't mean that he can ignore ALL the rules and post them on the site. Got it? Good!
