How to Increase Hive Reducers

Hi sir/madam,
I am new to Hadoop and Hive Technology.....As i am new to this one, i am facing some problems in Hive. So can u please figure out my problem listed below and give me a solution

Problem:
1) It is taking too long to execute the Hive Query for our application.
2)How to reduce execution time of query?
3)How to Increase number of REDUCERS in Hive?
4)Is there any other way other than specifying in HiveDefault.xml as (1,-1,0,2,3....)...
