How do you protect a map?

Hi, I have been working on a map for quite a while but I want to know how to protect the maps? I dont want to have gone through all the effort just for someone to steal it. plz reply!

people usually protect maps for saving their "trigger systems" such as 'save\load' system or some RPG abilities system or 'protecting map' is their trademark.


Please,andswer a question: from who and what do you need to protect ?
