I remember one of the undead dungeon levels on the campaign, they had a "trap" that involved flooding an area, killing all units and buildings in it.
How would they have done this?
there is a rising water doodad
Doodads\Cinematic\RisingWaterDoodad\RisingWaterDoodad
(Doodad Palette\Icecrown Glacier\Cinematic\Rising Water or Rising Water Wide)
you could also use this water plane model http://www.wc3c.net/showthread.php?t=82133
give it to a unit and raise it using "Animation - Change (unit) flying height to NewHeight at Speed"
if you want it to be exactly like in the campaign just open the campaign map and see for yourself
Funny you should ask, I was just checking random Frozen Throne campaign maps the other day. The file attached is the map you're referring to, with the rising water levels.
You could try scaling the doodad for amplified effects.
If you take a look at the campaign map, they just use TriggerSleepAction() to create a lapse in time between the triggered deaths of the towers. The doodad doesn't actually change the pathing or anything like that.
