How can i use git with WE?

Sometime it's very painfull to solve some bug or error or find their old features and it force to do some backups every time. But which way is best in using git with WE? Now i know just several methods : 1. pick whole map and do coomit; 2. pick war3map.j from map with mpqmaster and after do commit.
May be you guys have better solutions?

Extract all the files and push them. Introducing bugs is not limited to the war3map.j. But it seems questionable to me that restoring old single files of the map archive is viable since they may not work independently.

If you are experienced with git, I assume you have some knowledge of programming. IMO, the best way is to parse the .wtg and .wct (format specs are here) and write them as individual files, commit them to git repo. It'll be a lot better for debugging opposed to just updating the war3map.j.
