how can i get a custom unit to enter an entangled gold mine.

I'm fairly sure you have to go to the entangled gold mine "load wisp" spell and make sure you change the gathered worker unit from wisp to your custom worker unit. That should work. If all else fails, just directly change the data of the original wisp unit.
 
Wouldn't it be easiest to change the model file of the existing wisp, or just make a new custom unit with the wisp as the base unit? That way all the necessary unit data for the unit to function is already there.
 
the wisp already have the old purpose. each race have 1 water worker and 1 land worker. there is 2 types of mines: aquatic and regular. i want to keep the core gameplay of each race intact so therefore i need the night elf mining ship to work like the wisp.

So just make a new custom unit using the wisp as the base, then change the model file to a night elf ship, and then change the unit data so the wisp can sail on water.
 
Can't open the editor atm, but I'm pretty sure you can order units to "right click" with the unit - issue order targeting a unit".

Can't you just order the new wisp to "right click" on the gold mine ?
 
First make sure that the ability you give the worker is the Gather (Wisp Gold and Lumber)

Then you need to edit the load wisp ability so that I will load the new worker, but doing so would also affect the normal entangled gold mines, so I suggest doing two versions of the entangled gold mine, one for land, one for sea... but you would need to trigger the entangling if you would do it this way such that if you entangle the sea mine, it will become the sea version....

then do a copy of the load wisp ability, make it load the worker instead of the wisp, and give it to the sea version of the entangled gold mine (replacing the default load wisp)

What did I do?

1)Created a custom Tree of Life
2)Created a custom Wisp/Worker
3)Created a custom Entangled GM
4)Created a custom Entangle GM ability (which was given to the CToL)
5)Created a custom Load Wisp ability (which was given to the CEGM)
 
the mine is meant to be under the water. the ships of the other races can enter the mine without problems. i only have problems with the night elves. i believe that some person got it to work without using the wisp as a base. this problem is preventing me from finishing the alpha stages of the map so it is very important to fix.
 
Hours? its just pretty fast to create one worker... and if you'll not exhaust all possibilities, you'll waste more hours... if you tried it out right when I said it, we would now already know if it works or not, if not, we would already be on track to find a new solution... which is way more productive than actually not trying it out just becoz you think its a waste of time...

seriously, just being hesitant to try it out already wasted a lot of your time... if you don't want to try our suggestions on how to fix it, why even ask for our help?
 
creating a new unit and changing all values to match an old unit takes me hours. that is why my warcraft 3 rps project was dropped.(because added the ability to level up to all units takes a long time per unit.) the best course of action is to find the value the wisp have that the mining ship needs and add it to the mining ship.
 
Trying a possible solution isn't a waste of time... also since you're on the troublshooting part, the adjustment of the other game elements should not be done right now (I mean adjustments with regards to changing the miner)... you only do it once the problem is solved... and if it just lies with a value that a wisp has that a boat doesn't I believe you should have already found it by now...

anyway, you asked for help, so we tried to give you possible solutions, so if you don't want to try them out, its your problem...
 
yeah,and if you just tried your best first to match the boat and the wisp, you wouldn't even have needed to open this thread... haha...

anyway, that last statement of yours seem a pretty bit of saying that we are useless... its not a good way of ending a thread don't you think? especially when a lot of people tried to help you out...
