Hive Workshop Under Government Watch? Hi SOPA!

Seems like THW might be under fire soon enough.
SOPA has been passed.
That means if someone links to a site that conducts piracy, or has the slighest hint of conducting piracy, this site could come under direct fire.
And what if an investigation is conducted, which turns out that THW is not responsible for hosting these links? Can you counter-sue? No. You cannot.
They will essentially shut your site down with no hope of reclaiming it.
Don't think so?
Megaupload is gone already. Yes, it's easy to upload something pirated to their website, but did they approve of it? Did they have links all of their webpage saying "CLICK HERE FOR FREE MUSIC"? Nope.

Think you're safe over there in Europe?
I think not.
You'll just get extradited over to the US and sued just like the rest of us.

You're going to start losing sites like the following, but certainly not limited to;

Youtube
Facebook
Megaupload
Motion Empire
Msn.com
Zam
Hive Workshop
WowHead

And the like..

Better start taking down your World of Warcraft images in your signatures.
Remove models that have anything to do with any game that is copywrited.
Stop posting your memes, stop posting your smilies, stop creating links, stop suggesting torrents, don't even mention private server.
Oh don't forget that this will cost tax payers millions of dollars a year.
It's too late now to do anything except get pissed over the fact that your government is controlling you more and more every year.
Maybe if there's enough uproar the act will get revoked, but it's unlikely.
Welcome to the future of stranglehold operations =D

The point I'm making is it's not the problem of "the site being law abiding" it's the point that if one person links (for example) to a torrent website, or hosts an image of a private server (which I've seen, cough) then the government now has the lawful right to fully close down the website with no notice.
Only if the website does not make any effort to remove such links themselves. Additionally this will not affect servers in China and most of Europe which are outside of the influence of the USA (atmost they can block it from certain coutries).

What people are not realising is that this is a battle of giant companies and not of people. On one side you have companies like Disney and Fox who support this law and on the other side you have Google and such which are opposing it. The chances of it getting passed eventually are very low but not due to popular opinion, but due to conflicts of interest.

You...are a idiot, SOPA Nor PIPA Has passed, the websites that has been shut down was FBI Related, The day the voting begins is January the 24th (2Days), And it's likely not gonna pass, I'm happy to live in Sweden atleast, we don't give a fuck about the internet here lol :D.
Also, SOPA is not the only one ACTA is already signed by tons of countries, even the whole European union, This is a larger threat actually.

Postponed means they are having to rethink / ask for more money about passing it.

In the end google and other IT gients will start throwing spanners in the works if it becomes a threat as you must remember that they are also very large companies with a lot of influence.
