Hi all,

Hive Cup #3 is here! Pro players compete on community-made maps. Mappol: Top-7 maps of the 8th mapping contest (first phase) are selected: Rusty Creek, Snow Melt, Deja Vu, Springtime (aka Spring Melt), Northwestern River, Throne of Tides, Fairy Tale.

Main event format: The main event is organised as a series of Best-of-7 showmatches, but it will still have rounds where players who win 4+ maps (all 7 maps are always played) are invited to participate in subsequent round of showmatches. Money is awarded for each map won, as well as a premium for partaking in each of the rounds.

Main event pairs and dates, round 1:
  • Dise vs Sheik: Saturday 8-Jan 17:00 CET
  • Razzor vs Neytpoh: Tuesday 11-Jan 19:00 CET
  • Foggy vs Sonik: Wednesday 12-Jan 19:00 CET

Main event pairs and dates, semi-finals and finals:
TBA. Will most likely be played in late January.

Prize money: prizepool of 600€. 10€ go to all the participants of quarterfinals. Additional 15€ go to all the participants of semifinals. Finally, 60€ go to the winner of the final. Any map won in any of the stage yields 10€.

2nd phase map judging: all participants will be asked to fill a short google-sheet form assessing the maps. Additional poll will be conducted among casters and viewers of the event. The combined assessments will yield the final results of 8th Melee Map-making contest.

Big thanks to

Hi all, with the second game about to begin, we are disclosing the second phase judging:

1) Final score = 30% + 70% : 1st phase + 2nd phase
2) Second phase = 80% google poll (players+casters+Tenshi, mafe, jaleveliki) + 20% public poll (in discord Join the WC3 Gym Discord Server! ). The google-based poll asks to rate balance on the scale of 1-10 and optionally asks to rate subjective opinion.
3) 50/50 balance/personal opinion if both are provided, else 100% balance

Since its 2022, do any of these community maps have spicy item pools? I feel there should be a map that uses some of the campaign items in drop tables. Vanilla item tables are very stale. I'm talking: Spellbook, Enchanted Vial, Helm of Bloodthirst, Keg of Ale, Runed Gauntlets, Thunderlizard Diamond, Firehand Gauntlets, etc. Rusty Mining Pick could be same level as the Evasion bearing item, except Pick gives BASH LOL

I wouldn't necessarily vouch for this, but even some of the items with hero ultimates could be interesting. Iirc theres ulti items for AM, Alchemist, DR, and Dreadlord.

Hi all,
After the quarterfinals we had to make a pause, but now the tournament resumes!

The seeding of semi-finals is the following: Happy vs Neytpoh; Sheik vs Foggy.

However, due to the frequency of NE-UD matchup and keeping in mind the best interests of players and viewers, we decided to reorganize the Happy-Neytpoh pair. Namely:
(0. Sheik-Foggy semifinal remains intact.)
1. Happy advances to the finals, where he will meet the winner of Foggy-Sheik.
2. To compensate the "missing" second semifinal game, two new showmatches are to take place. These will be additional showmtches, i.e. grid-unrelated:
2a. Johnny Cage vs Happy. This is to increase the participation of Humans (none of which qualified for the tournament) and showcase the maps with the top-tier European Human.
2b. Neytpoh vs Ag3nt, with Neytpoh "offracing" as Orc instead of his usual Night Elf. This will showcase the otherwise rare Orc-Hum matchup as well as feature the duel between two Hive mapping contest judges (this year's Ag3nt and last year's Neytpoh).

Stay tuned for future details :goblin_yeah::goblin_yeah::goblin_yeah:
