A really nice tip here: Dont use boring names for heroes.

Like warrior, mage, paladin or priest.

Use Combination of cewl stuff and classes:
Rift Warrior
Disciple of garth
Sand Reaver

etc etc, it makes spell crafting SO much easier, and fun, trust me.

NO ONE likes a simple paladin with a boring heal and support spell. Flesh it out.

Here is my hero idea, it's kinda complicated but it has a unique gameplay. I hope you can get something useful in this hero skill set. ^ ^

This is a melee poison user hero.
This hero have 5 skill set on his arsenal.
Core skill (maybe in the center mid-left part of the unit action bars)
"Poison satchel/Pack of poisons"
"This will be your main skill as a poison based hero."
-make a spellbook ability that have several poisons in it to choose from.
This skill will be available for the hero from the start.
You can only activate one poison at a time by clicking it and you can change it
anytime you like by clicking other poison available. and the poison effect will be
applied in each attack.

sample poison:
Deadly poison - will apply a damage over time buff on the enemy, the poison
effect stack with each attack.
example: 3dmg per sec. for 5sec duration. when you hit twice,
it will be 6dmg per sec for 5sec.
(the damage increases each hero level)

Crippling poison - slows the target's movement and attack speed, the poison effect
stack with each attack (but put some limit for the effect like
maximum slow effect is 60% and increase it for each lvl)
example: reduce 5%as and 3%ms for 5sec, hitting twice will
make it 10%as and 6%ms for 5sec.
(increase the slow and limit for the slow effect per hero level)

Mind numbing poison - drain the targets mana per attack. the poison effect stack with
each attack. the effect have an initial burn and drain over time.
example: burn 20mana and drain 5mana per sec for 5sec. when
you hit twice the burn effect will be the same. but the
drain stack. burn 20mana and drain 10mana per sec for
5sec.
(mana burn and drain increases per hero level)

Weakening poison - Reduce the targets armor per attack. the poison effect stack
with each attack. not like other poison, this poisons duration also
increase each stack.
example: reduce the target's armor by 0.5 for 3sec, hitting twice
will make it -1 armor for 6sec.
(reduced armor and duration increases per hero level)

First skill (in the bottom most left part of the unit action bar)
"Envenomed Shuriken"
- A throwing skill that initially dmg the target AND apply a poison effect depending on
what poison you activated in "Poison satchel/Pack of poison" put this skill in a long
cooldown to make it a timing based skill. or opener skill (to make your hero melee
oriented as much as possible).
Example:
Deal 100 dmg and apply 3 stack of poison effect on your target.
(each skill level increases the dmg and stack of poison you apply on the target)

Second skill (in the bottom mid-left of the unit action bar)
"Blinding Powder"
- Since a poison user rely on over time effects of the poison, stealth is necessary.
"Blinding powder" can be an area of effect spell or target spell. it depends on what
you prefer most.
Example:
(if area of effect) -Throw a bag of blinding powder on an area making the affected
unit unable to see (making your hero or every allied unit
invisible) for a certain amount of time.
(duration and area of effect increase each skill level)
(if target unit spell) -Throw a blinding powder on the enemy making him/her unable to
see (making your hero or every allied unit invisible) for a certain
amount of time.
(duration increase each skill level)

Third slot (in the bottom mid-right of the unit action bar)
"Poison Dagger (autocast)"
- Since most of your poison in "Poison satchel/Pack of poisons" doesn't deal damage.
you need a Damage over time skill. "Poison Dagger" will dmg your target over time.
make this spell a physical dmg spell so the "weakening poison" can benefit from it.
It is also a way to use your mana.
Example:
Deals 20dmg for 3 sec.
(Increase the dmg per skill level)

Ultimate skill (in the bottom most-right of the unit action bar)
"Rupture wound"
- This skill can be an opener or finisher move. the effect of this skill varies on the
poison you use on the target. the more stack of poison you apply on the target,
the more powerful the effect will be.

This is the list of the possible effect you can use on each poison:
Deadly Poison - Instantly deal damage to the target
example: 50 dmg per stack.
Crippling Poison - Stun the target
example: .5sec stun per stack.
Mind numbing Poison - Silence the target
example: 1sec silence per stack.
Weakening Poison - Double the dmg taken by the target.
example: 2sec duration per stack.

I already post this hero somewhere but maybe you can get some idea from this one.

Oh, duh! YAMAIIII!

Yamai, the Medical Sparkbot.

Healer, Support, Pusher

A medical machine, with a straped bag on it's back with a red cross. It's a little machine with arms that bob up and down and small legs with mini wheels at the bottom. A siringe is in his hand.

Passive: Overload: Every healing for 200 damage, Yamai gains a "Maintenance Required" charge. At 5 charges, Yamai overloads his circuits, shooting sparks in all directions. Friendly units hit by these sparks are healed for the current level of [Field Medic's Level x 30] amount, and enemy units take Y[Dialaton's level x 30] damage.

Q - Feild Medic

Toggle; Yamai begins healing any ally within auto-attack distance (400 units) for 50/60/70/80/90. (Can only heal one unit at a time [unless an aoe effect says his attacks splash], heals at 50% attack speed) However, while this is active, Yamai may not attack. Click on the target you want to heal if you want to focus heal. For every heal, Yamai loses 20/25/30/35/40 mana.
Explanation; This make's Yamai diverse from most healers in most games. It changes it's auto attack to an auto heal, which is very nice for laning as you can spam heal minions. Additionaly, it is efficent to switch to this when your allies are entering a team fight.

W - Medical Powa!

Yamai heals the target for 160/180/200/220/240, and deals 30/40/50/60/70 damage to all units within a 300 unit radius of them. Cooldown; 6.33 seconds.
Explanation; A "GET OF HIS ASS" type of spell. It's a decent spell to use on focused targets and people who are getting ganked bad. Also, spamming this on the tank if an efficent damage deal.

E - Dialation

Yamai peirces the target, dealing 80/90/100/110/120 damage and decreases there stats by 3.5/4/4.5/5/5.5 (+0.18 AP). Cooldown; 8 seconds.
Explanation; Yamai's damage dealing spell. Can be used on Carry's or Nukers to decrease there effectiveness.

R - Mechanical Reboot

Yamai restores the target to full health ( can be used on dead targets, click on there side picture). However, when used, Yamai uses this, he overloads, becoming a bucket of bolts. (Dead.) Costs; 100% of Yamai's maximum health. Cooldown; 120 seconds. (two minutes). ( no death mark appears unless your under 50% health.)

Not sure how many abilities per hero there are, so take what you need.

Wood Nymph (Dryad)

Ranged Agility

A creature of the forest, she uses the surrounding trees and flora to her advantage. This reclusive guardian of groves and thickets is quick to use nature's might against those who would defile it.

Also, toying with the idea of making her dependant on the conditions around her (for example, Field of Thorns collapses faster if cast on rocky terrain tiles or underwater, spells that are more powerful in daylight are weaker and cost more to cast at night, etc.).

Poisoned Attacks: The Wood Nymph coats her spears in the toxic juices of venemous plants, hurting enemies over time.

Scented Wind: A breeze perfumed with forest flowers sweeps the battlefield, entrancing opponents who smell it. Enemies in the AoE are slowed and/or have a chance to miss their attacks.

Fairy Ring: A large circle of mushrooms pops up around the Wood Nymph. These mushrooms are items that can be used by both the Nymph's allies and enemies. The mushrooms work like this:
* Every mushroom has a different name and function, but is called Mushroom in-game until identified. Tooltip reads something like Mushroom: Give to Nymph for identification.
* Effects include: healing, restoring mana, both, doing damage to the user, causing various status effects to the user (both positive and negative), doing nothing or even outright killing him. One effect per mushroom, and each type has a percentile chance of being produced by the spell.
* Only mushrooms picked up by the Wood Nymph are identified, by turning them into named mushrooms: the Nymph picks up a mushroom, and in her inventory it becomes the corresponding mushroom (Healing Mushroom, Death Mushroom, Magic Mushroom, etc). These mushrooms can be dropped, keeping their new name and tooltip.

Field of Thorns: Massive thorn thickets burst from the ground in an AoE, slowing opponents and harming those trapped within, collapsing after some time. The field lasts longer if cast on plant-covered terrain.

Photosynthesis (Passive): Regenerates mana faster in daylight.

Cleanse Tree (only use if there are blighted trees on the map): The Dryad purges a target tree of its undead taint. The Wood Nymph gets permanent vision of that tree, along with slight mana and health regen if she is close to it.

Forest Spirit: Opening her consciousness to the vast forest, the Wood Nymph may sense as the trees do. A line of sight around every tree on the map is given to the nymph for a short while, any invisible units are revealed if in range.

Root Network: One of the Wood Nymph's more esoteric powers allows her to travel near-instantaneously from one tree to another. Targets a visible tree. The Nymph heads to the closest live tree, channels for a few seconds, and is teleported to the targeted tree's location.

Treemeld: The Wood Nymph hides in a tree, losing mobility but gaining armor and regeneration. She can still attack by means of her roots in this state (pretty sure I've seen a Treant version of Impale somewhere). Targets a tree, and replaces it with the treeform-dryad. Has a random rootstab attack, no movement and increased armor, lasts until interrupted or destroyed (the Nymph dies if this is the case).
* Alternate version: as above, except the Nymph "becomes" a doodad tree. Keeps the rootstab attack, but health regeneration does not change. The tree is unattackable except by units who can attack trees (catapults, AoE spells, etc.). If the tree is destroyed, the Wood Nymph reappears in her normal body, with the same level of health and mana as she had at the trees death.

If any of these don't make sense, tell me and I'll try to clarify them.
