We all know how some of the japanese are, they make hentai games, they make party games that make no sense, and they make the anime games. But Since when did this game come around?

DarthMaulvs.jpg

I don't know about you, but the concept of Darth Maul fighting the Black Magician Girl with zelda hearts and magic bar just doesn't seem right...

So what makes me think that this is another japanese game? Well, i've grown to expect this ever since they had a Super Smash Bros. Spin off where 3 of the characters you could play as were: Solid Snake, Optimus Prime, and Yugo from Bloody Roar. But still, that idea seems kind of... strange? Is that the word I'm looking for? :eekani:

If you know what this game is, tell me so I can do a little research on this, this is going to bug me to no end until I find out.

it actually looks like more of a photoshop than a game. if it is a "game", then it's probably some random doujin. the dark/black magician girl's feet look way too unprofessional. in general, the DMG sprite is not done very nicely. take a look at the arms, it goes from looking normal to looking like it was enlarged and only partially compensated for. the shoulder on darth maul doesn't look to crisp, and his quality is leaps and bounds behind DMG's.

not to mention the sheer lack of contrast between the background and characters. even with animated backgrounds, the contrast is usually fairly large in games animated like that. this is totally fake, and if it isn't it's not exactly a game i would consider even pirating. take a look at this screen from MegaMan Zero 4, quality is way higher and it's only for GBA.

no trace of editing? take a look at DMG's left arm (the one she isn't holding her staff with). take a look at her staff, which has larger pixels than the rest of her, excluding bad edit areas like her arm. in fact, the staff would be one of the bad edit areas. this screams photoshop to me.

It's a fangame people. You know, those games people design by themselves? Like the great Cave Story?

Not shopped. Just using bad DMG sprites

Probably made by someone attempting (In vain) to overthrow Mugen from the custom-random-fighters throne

And that Japanese fighting game mentioned in the first post (SSB-ish one) apparantly has Devastator, the big guy made of the construction vechiles, as a level, along with having Optimus Prime and Megatron as fighters

And all three were legally liscenced

Ok, I youtubed it, saw some videos, and learned that Mugen is a game where people make their own characters.

If you ask me, it sounds like one big sue-fest where people take DBZ characters, edit them, change their color, change their name and make them "t3h unk1ll4bl3!!!111"

First of all, I'm reviving this thread so that The Last Istari can completely understand the entire meaning of Mugen.

Make? not exactly, Fighter Factory is used to build your own characters and give them skills, sound packs, commands and sprites like that and so..

It's a little of a sue-fest, and people will not (AND NEVER) take DBZ characters and re-edit them, they know that it's always shameful..(unless they do it for themselves)

One of the WORST Characters belong to a user (not mentioning the name), his Melty Blood characters are trash and they don't play like Melty Blood.

Also giving you a variation of systems, Mugen lets you play the same game from another dimension, for example, characters like Ky Kiske can perform Bursts, Roman Cancels, Overdrives, Psych Bursts, Dust Attacks and Instant Kills... his enemy "Sub-Zero" can perform realistic uppercuts "Causes Ky Kiske to fling upwards like Mortal Kombat's physics" and it is possible that even the cutest or the tiniest of characters (take Sakura, White-Len, Kohaku, Doraemon) for example" can canonically explode from brutalities and fatalities.

although not all chars take brutality in shouting form, they can just say their defeat phrases like "teh vare mash ta....".

Of course, if you take Rock Howard from Capcom vs SNK, the same system from the game is used, or taking Rock Howard from Fatal Fury..

They don't take the characters from the "actual" game, they only make the sprites, make the sound packs, put sprites and so on.

One more thing? Mugen was built by the Spanish.

btw, Guilty Gear characters? Ky was own3d by Scorpion from Mortal Kombat.
