Inside this game a plot slowly unfolds around certain gems that carry a great power. A power that has to be kept safe, in your hands.



Introduction

Gems of Unification (GoU) is Role Playing Game (RPG) which can (and should) be played in multiplayer. I've worked quite a lot on this map and hope you'll enjoy it.

This map is currently still in heavy development, but playable. Of the three acts the first two are largely done. Expect this map to be updated a lot over the coming months.

If you find any bugs or have suggestions to the map don't hesitate to contact me by posting in this thread. Together we can create a new epic map!

One hero, all classes!

Pick up your weapon of choice, learn your own spells and do the quests you like. Your choices determine your class, allowing a whole new kind of customization! So will picking up a bow for instance make your hero a ranged damage dealer since bows provide a ranged attack and a damage bonus. Together with the ability to pick up any spell you like (though there is a maximum of spells you can pick) you can create your own class! Any combination is possible!​

FAQ

What is this game about? What does RPG mean?
RPG stands for Role Playing Game, which in this context means you play a character that explores the world of Gems of Unification. You're pretty free to choose which kind of character you want to be.

In which aspects does this game differ from other RPG's, like Gaia's Retaliation?
I'll be honest, in a lot of aspects it is the same, it's just fresh, new content. In what aspects it differs are these; class customization, you don't pick a pre-made class with certain abilities but you're free to choose how you want your character to be.

The game crashes!
Make sure you have texture quality on highest, else the game can crash. Next to that, suggested resolution screen is 1920x1080. Small resolution and graphic can broke game or improperly display data. If the game still crashes after trying this try running Warcraft III in openGL by adding -opengl to your startup exe.

Help, I can't save in singleplayer! Why is this?!
In order to prevent people from cheating their character up I've disabled saving in singleplayer.

My save code doesn't work.
Make sure you're using the same playername you used while you saved your character.

Restore my code!!
I won't sorry, you'll have to level up again.

I've noticed a serious bug, where can I report this?

  • All save/load bugs are fixed, saving should now always generate a code, as well as loading should now always load your character fully

  • Mana per intelligence has been lowered from 15 to 10 per point

  • New Birthsign added, Birthsign: Panda provides +30% healing done

get both, u do curse at start and then keep casting fireball, no need to physical atack, its called staff of the swamp i think its green, also i like to set curse on a target and make pet atack that one, and fireball the other till dead so u kill 2 by getting the dmg of 1

I already got nature's touch spell :(
I have one more skill atm to choose though...shud i get curse for now?

u still cant do alone any quest to get skill points? im killing wolf at lvl 10 without pots and bandit with 1 pot rigth now, reaching tauren/centaur is a hard part, u should have reju,curse,pet,fireball and if u want touch and burst

oks, ty, ill just start again my hero so :) dont want a 50 S: hey and 1 question, the purple chest,bow and off hand, and also de holy circlet and the lvl 40+ str armor those where are suposed to be droped?? the blues i know that gamble can give em but the epics?? the only epics i´ve seen being droped are staff,sword and 2 handed sword

If this was the last bug no more resets should be needed (also when I release D3).

oh /: dont reset pliz, i just started again and 20 alredy /: i just erased those codes, anyway if someone use a pj of those, they appear bugged so its useless, but my question was if those epics are alredy dropeable?

if someone get a 50 by that bug which is probably jsut 2 or 3 persons, is useless cause it only gets the stat points it had from the save code, so if u saved at 15 u will get a 50 with only 15 stat points... i dont think noone wants to play that lol and any new save code works perfectly :) so u mean that when u relaese d3 there will be code wipe??

Update, like announced: save/load codes are again reset (sorry). Will probably won't happen again (they're compatible with dungeon 3 release).

By the way, somehow .. that skill "barkskin"; you pick it up I think when you slay your mother (sounds bad, but hey.. I didn't make the map.. LoL).
And now somehow, that skill barkskin, giving me bonus armor, is permanently on..
I permanently have that bonus armor; I cast the spell on myself and then i died, and when I spawned, that spell was permanently on.
Part of me is thouroughly enjoying this; and part of me feels a bit sad that I'm not playing this game properly..
I've run out of spells now, and I am at the tauren place to buy protective shield....
I suppose the just thing to do is unlearn the barkskin skill.... sigh.

OR should I unlearn Knuckle punch.. what do u guys think?

Oh lol updates! And vestra thought something happened to the creator :) It's great to see he's back!

Hope all the glitches and cheats are fixed. Boy was there a lot of those. But I don't have the opportunity to try it out so i shouldn't even be talking :p

Sounds like a cosmetic bug, but might be exploitable.

EDIT: Was a cosmetic thing, fixed the issue for all buffs from abilties, please redownload the map :)

I was just wondering. I think it makes sense to disable the save/load for single player, but what would be the harm in keeping the regular save game for singleplayer. As far as I know you can't load a game that way and then join a multiplayer game. Perhaps I'm wrong, but I enjoy singleplayer a lot and it sucks to have to completely start over because i don't have the hours available to play all the way through.

Because (if I remember correctly) the normal Blizzard save games can bug out with the systems used in my map. If you like to play singleplayer you can just play the game by going to Local Area Network -> Create Game and play. You can just use the save/load system of the map then so you don't have to start over again each time :)

Just a side note; some creeps where misplaced somehow, I placed them at their proper place (minor update just done now). If you already have downloaded v13.02.26 I urge you to redownload it so this issue gets solved, its no big problem though (save code will also keep working if you redownload).

But armor doesn't protect against skeletal mage spells does it??


if gives a lot more of sp, which means more dmg ,more heal and more absoprtion for shield, anyway yeah, when im getting tombs gear i get 1-2 more players and goes pretty easy :)

Ah I see. Well I solo'd that tomb of horrors going as melee warrior, a long time ago, and once I got a certain shield, or chest item, I had heaps of armor and could easily solo.

I'm farming the spiders, cant get the cloth chest yet. But I did find bloodscale crown.. which gives slightly more hp :p

ill keep farming till i find the cloth chest.

chest may be hard to drop, since its green named :) but it does drop xD

Even with the windchaser wraps improved, as soon as my shield runs out, the mage kills me in one hit :(

*UPDATE - I tried putting the bloodscale crown back on to see if that would help (instead of the Hat of Witchcraft)
and then I could kill the mage! He no longer one hit killed me. Took me very low, but the rejuv kept saving me

*Update again - above the first skeletel mage, there is another mage and 3 tough guys.. they destroy me, I cant do anything, even with the shield :(:(:(:(:(

*Update again - I went to next village, got rank of recruit, which gives resistance to magic so I'll the tomb again wish me luck!

Yuvixadun, about the spell 'hydro jet', is it really supposed to be 0.2 x spell power?
that seems really really week... especially for a spell that late in the game?

Keep in mind that it deals 0.2x SP per hit and it hits more then 6 times or something (can't remember, been a long time ago). So its probably better in numbers than you imagine (and it also knockbacks).

Btw yuvixadun why did u disappear for some time earlier? Idk maybe u already answered a question like this but I don't really follow this thread thingy a lot so I might've missed it. But it's great to see progress hope the map's gonna be as awesome as gaias when I come back :)

Gaias is not awesome :(
It has huge potential to be awesome.. but the thing is, it's just too hard, and cannot play solo.

THIS map; Gems of Unification, you CAN play solo, and its a lot of fun, not too difficult.

No matter how good a map is, if its too difficult, then the fun factor is taken away and you can't finish it :(

I know its off topic and I'd rather have this discussion somewhere else but:
Where is the problem playing it multiplayer?
a) there's a hostingbot hosting Gaias on Bnet 24/7, so it's not even an issue if you can not host for yourself
b) it's way more fun to play it multiplayer anyway
c) it's the type of game... an online RPG is called online RPG because you play it online... with people. I see no reason why any map should not be considered good just because singleplayer is not an option.

Yeah, kinda rude of me to suddenly leave; there were two real reasons:
- bugs and a non working save/load system which I was demotivated to fix
- my master at the university started this september which soaks up a lot of my time

Bugs at Moment:

1 - Fireball and Frosbolt use the same key on keyboard (F)
2 - You can cross the second city for the third city of the mountains.

1. Hotkeys are in short supply; I've reached the maximum number of combinations so double assignment to keys has to happen :(
2. What do you exactly mean? The Tauren camp to Armadale City?

Its a matter of taste, I prefer multiplayer over singleplayer since its just more fun to play with other people and it can be more challenging.

Wow I never knew about this map. I'm glad the old Gaias template I made available open source could get used well.
Too bad this thing hasn't been updated since half a year. :/

I agree, multiplayer with your friends is better.
But for my situation, this is impossible since I'm married.. and my wife hates me playing computer games lol.
So that is why I really wish I could play gaias and TKOK single player.

Ok Ok, I take back what I said about them not being good maps. They ARE good maps, it just sucks for me that I don't have time for multiplayer.

Bug:If you take the warning note near the dead footman, the warning sign quest loops with the king constantly sending you to check camp. It doesnt loop if you take the quest without having read the note first though.
Bug: Captain rank seems to give only 6% to resistances. I can;t tell if it is the same for dodge.

By the way, I Cant seem the find the "small cave in the southeast", where I'm supposed to talk to the Face of the Earth? Where is that please?

It is in the crab area after you pass the bridge on your way to 4th town. Just go north and then east after you pass that bridge.

Will look into the quest bug.
About the rank one; I forgot to mention it in the patch notes + edit tooltips, ranks now give 2% resistance and dodge per rank instead of 3%. Will be fixed in a new version.

NOTE 2: E another thing I have noticed (game around 8 hours a day this map), I see that rogue is a bit "thrown aside" on this map because it has very few daggers and hands off to him, and especially to rogue spells .

This is MY opnion along with the 3 players that play together.

NOTE 3: I wonder if you want to add more spells not only for rogue, but for other vocations? I do not know?

NOTE 4: Another question also would like to know if you have plans to increase the "limit of spells," as the maximum that can be used is 8 because the next version could not be 9 or maybe 10?

The point of this game is very strong "Many Quests", this is what I perceive clearly, and the game has some INCREDIBLE story. Congratulations to those who made ​​the Roadmap that.

Maybe, mages and healers have overlap in items (spell power), but I've tried to divide all items in three main categories: "tank/physical", "mage/healer" and "rogue/ranger". In the upcoming dungeon there will be enough gear for all archtypes :)

Did you discover the secret place in the City of Armadale yet? You can buy Shadow Dagger (I think it is called) there. There will be a new spell in D3 that drops off bosses.

The limit probably won't be lowered else characters won't differ much.

I dont think that mages have more loot than other classes in this map. Taking a quick look at the item list there appear to be
8 staff, 8 shields, 10 main hand, 10 off hand, 8 bows and 10 two-handed weapons so if anything i'd say that rogues and two-handers have more loot.

Edit1:After checking the armors too there appear to be 5 str, 6 agi and 7 int armors so mage does have the more loot there, with agi heroes being the average and str heroes having the fewest.

Edit2:After checking the heads too there appear to be 4 str heads, 4 agi heads and 5 int heads plus a hybrid head item that gives both str and agi so id say they are all equal here. Im too lazy to also check the misc and accessory items but i'd say that so far there isn't any big imbalance on items as far as quantity goes.

On top of the map ... the part that has nothing ... Do you have plans for her? this next update, something up there is going to be filled?

And in relation to being released the next version .. 2 questions ...

1 - All loads will be reset again huh?
2 - According to his work and effort, there is a preview for the next version be released? Like one week? 1 month?

Sorry if I'm being annoying asking these questions, is that after all characters level 50, there comes a time that you no longer have anything else to do on the map, and then it gets a bit boring.

I'm glad someone could take advantage of this.
I just recommend not using too much of the systems I wrote for that open source version, as the open source version is almost 2 years old and almost all of the systems had flaws I fixed much later in the revival process of the map.

You'll probably be better off rewriting most of the stuff or taking resources from the hive's JASS and spells section and just use the map as a collection of models and object data.

The inventory system should probably work fine, the threat system is available here on hive and the quest system works flawlessly. I wouldn't recommend using anything else than those three systems.

Codes won't be reset again. Check some earlier post of yuvixadun and you'll notice that he already denied that. ;)

I found another bug in my current game. The tauren appear not to attack the centaurs when I'm nearby attacking the centaur troops. Instead they try to attack me if they just could.
