Inside this game a plot slowly unfolds around certain gems that carry a great power. A power that has to be kept safe, in your hands.



Introduction

Gems of Unification (GoU) is Role Playing Game (RPG) which can (and should) be played in multiplayer. I've worked quite a lot on this map and hope you'll enjoy it.

This map is currently still in heavy development, but playable. Of the three acts the first two are largely done. Expect this map to be updated a lot over the coming months.

If you find any bugs or have suggestions to the map don't hesitate to contact me by posting in this thread. Together we can create a new epic map!

One hero, all classes!

Pick up your weapon of choice, learn your own spells and do the quests you like. Your choices determine your class, allowing a whole new kind of customization! So will picking up a bow for instance make your hero a ranged damage dealer since bows provide a ranged attack and a damage bonus. Together with the ability to pick up any spell you like (though there is a maximum of spells you can pick) you can create your own class! Any combination is possible!​

FAQ

What is this game about? What does RPG mean?
RPG stands for Role Playing Game, which in this context means you play a character that explores the world of Gems of Unification. You're pretty free to choose which kind of character you want to be.

In which aspects does this game differ from other RPG's, like Gaia's Retaliation?
I'll be honest, in a lot of aspects it is the same, it's just fresh, new content. In what aspects it differs are these; class customization, you don't pick a pre-made class with certain abilities but you're free to choose how you want your character to be.

The game crashes!
Make sure you have texture quality on highest, else the game can crash. Next to that, suggested resolution screen is 1920x1080. Small resolution and graphic can broke game or improperly display data. If the game still crashes after trying this try running Warcraft III in openGL by adding -opengl to your startup exe.

Help, I can't save in singleplayer! Why is this?!
In order to prevent people from cheating their character up I've disabled saving in singleplayer.

My save code doesn't work.
Make sure you're using the same playername you used while you saved your character.

Restore my code!!
I won't sorry, you'll have to level up again.

I've noticed a serious bug, where can I report this?
You can report this by replying to the uploaded map at the Hive Workshop or in the post on the forums there I have for this map.

  • The long awaited Act III has been released! It contains a new leveling area for level 38 - 48. This brand new act contains the following:

  • All save/load bugs are fixed, saving should now always generate a code, as well as loading should now always load your character fully
  • Because of save/load bugs, all save codes have been reset unfortunately
  • Mana per intelligence has been lowered from 15 to 10 per point
  • Base hero mana increased from 0 to 15
  • New Birthsign added, Birthsign: Panda provides +30% healing done

I'm currently very busy, so thats why there hasn't been an update yet.
Also, there are quite a few bugs to solve. I'll probably have to rewrite the entire load/save system because its just that crap (getting all these bugs :/ ). This all takes a lot of time which I currently don't have.

its fine to wait for a nice game :) that means a code wipe again so?

Hey guys :)
I'm a bit stuck at the moment.
I'm playing this map solo, I'm at level 28, and these are my items:

Shield of the King(improved), Hauberk of the Marsh, Bloodscale Crown,
Mail Gauntlets (improved), Ravager Claw.

With this set up I have 21 armor. I have upgraded only strength for my hero abilities.
I have chosen Boar birthsign, and am now Rank: Recruit.

These are the spells I currently have:
Knuckle Punch, Frenzied Strike, Ensnare, Shield Pound, Intimidating Shout,
Pet Hawk, Savage Energy.

Now, I just cannot get past the Tomb of Horrors part. I get owned and those skeletons are so tough and the mages with their magic damage own me. Does anyone know what I can do to increase magic resistance? And get a much better weapon? Ravager Claw sucks, it only does 4 Damage.

I have tried to use 'Sturdy Recurve Bow'(improved), but I still get owned in the cave of horrors.

kill the turtle boss to the left of the inn area, it drops a weapon called sword of the dragon lotus fairly often. That's currently the best one handed weapon in the game. You can also either farm the level 27-28 spiders for an item called avengers plate which would intensely increase your armor, or run to the new town in act 3 and buy it for an amount i cant remember.

Frenzied strike, ensnare and shield pound are all irrelevant skills. Try and get seal of vigor and the damage reduction aura from the 2k skill seller, above the ice trolls. There's another skill you should have but I've forgotten what it is. Pretty sure it's taunt but that's just my build, really it doesn't matter, once you have enough armor you can solo everything any damn way. Savage energy is good too (found on the cloaked elf lady to the west of the elve town).

Dw too much about magic damage, nothing deals enough currently, aside from oges. The sword increases your resistances as well so that helps.

The King drops a better helm for you, the butcher drops a reasonable acc for you. After that act 3 has gear that can replace your shield, helm and acc.

Rank is also removed with each load, if you're still having trouble do the quest for rank 2 again, there's no rank above that currently.

suggestion :)

it will be nice to have d3 or further endgame like dungeons to have 2 dificulty settings like normal and heroic mode or call it whatever u want :) ofc the "heroic" mode drop better gear (; but make dungeons harder, i would like to play a healer but its useless at the moment cause people can just solo eveything even with more players in game /: so will be nice to have like for normal mode blue items from bosses that can be done with 2 players no prob or maybe even solo with good gear, and the heroic mode where we can get weap/skill/class sepcific gear from each boss like i told u alredy in 5 bosses dung, 1 drop weaps second chest and go like that with the gear :) and make it imposible to solo please! make us need a real party set up to beat it (tank-healer-2 dds or more ) that will relaly make the game a lot more interesting and give an actual use to tanks and healers :)

Thanks Vestra! Your guidance helped a lot. I am now level 36 with the items you mentioned; now I just need to save up 5k for those better skills.

Btw, the quest involving The Archivist, Oben Rageclaw, and Bishop Salha is neverending; the quest just keeps telling you to speak to the next person, and it just goes round and round in circles, repeats same dialogue. I have the Emerald and Amethyst in my backpack.

Does this happens to you guys?

Ok I think I have completed all the quests possible so far.
The only two quests that I cant finish are:

- And then there were two (slay the twins at the Cathedral Catacombs)
- Origin of the Gems (talk to the archivist)

The quests cannot be completed.
I cant wait for Act 4!

I was play with my friends this orpg and found a few bugs:
1. In the beginning, when the robbers appear in the first house I went to were the robbers, one gone - there were peaceful NPCs. Simultaneously.
2. Graphics casting the spell is over. See the screenshot.

great game however... got to level 49 and saved but it won't load. The last load available is my level 42 save. Please don't make me level again... help?

About last screenshot - that's not only birthsighn quest, but every quest which progress was loaded as side choosing and every quest which can be initiated from several prev quests as general's first quest (or am I mistaking?).
If you die barskinned you stay barskinned forever.
As I PMed earlier, dragon birthsign is lost forever(you can't even choose a new birthsign) after loading. This is worst bug I saw in fact...

About rebalancing.
Hey, my ass doen't seemed to be raped :( It isn't hard still, maybe you will add smth like difficulty lvls?
Also dungeon creeps have too much hp with a very low attack, which makes them ugly. Really they are extremely easy to kill, but it takes shitload of time. Also it is a bit ugly that mage mobs have more hp and def then dds and dds have more then tanks...
Mage is still OPed...
I love new skills and new town, the best and most exiting thing I saw there was library, it's amazing, I want more books or more text in books, they are rlly interesting to read.

Btw can you add PvP in next version? ^_^ May be some kind of arena or smth... It would be also wonderful to make there different types of battles, like king of the hill, domination, ctf, etc.
Also water jet MUST be nerfed, I deal 1000-4000 dmg with it.
Agi heroes are still very weak, though str heroes usually have much lower dps, but at least they are able to survive a fight with a non-mage creep of their lvl, though it is often a very, very long fight, while mage easily solos a pack of such creeps like orgres, lizards or orcs...

I love the game. The terrain is beautiful, the story and the side quests made me feel like I'm totally role playing. Keep up the good work man. :)

Hello yuvixadun,

Since you didn't answer on the last posts of the users, everything hints to a death project...
I tried the map yesterday for the first time and we enjoyed it. We were two players only, and came to the Caster Boss in the Bandit Cave...
Looks like this isn't really far but I had to go.
I just want to say that I hope that you'll continue the work. You did a great job, Terrain and Story is really nice - the part I saw :D
I know there are some bugs to fix and it's hard work and all but I guess it would be very very sad when you stop working on this.

Give us Wc3 Players in the year 2012 worth playing maps, cause that's all I need - a good RPG and the waiting for WC4 ... ;)

Hope you think about your project, just wanted to let you know that there are a few gamer's left who are caring...

As a suggestion for the upcoming update I would add aggro bars cause it was really hard for the tank to hold aggro against 3-4 mobs when I did the heal... I always pulled two of them out. Making the Taunt as an AoE would be nice, but I don't know how it is to play with 4 or more players....

1) Summons work, you have to wait some time for your guy to cast a summon spell, I don't remember exact amount, it's about 10 sec.
2) You will meet interesting and unique items later, e.g. staff from second dungeon - soulkeeper which regens some mp and hp every 5 casts.
3) 1/5?! Why so bad mark, lol?

can any1 help me? :(

everytime i try to -load my character...I always get dc! (applies to other wc3 maps with -load system) and if im the host..the other players will get dc instead!!

reply please i wanna play rpgs again T_T

Something that was often considered with this are names that have strange characters in them. Does your name that you enter into WC3 have anything strange in it?

What he means is for example the nick that you use, does it have any odd characters? Like if it's colored then that does happen quite often

well here are my suggestions and reports.

1)make healing potions useable from backpack and add boots item for the free slot

2)agility should also give movevment speed (the amount of the speed in order to keep balance is up to you to decide)

3)birthmark 10% exp is tottally useless !!!

4)add more birthamrks so that the character's build can be a lot more different among players

5)add pvp system

6)most of the skills need remake and balancing

7)add more skills based on weapon types

8)pets are almost the same...

9)skull small should be able to used only with heavt melee weapons

10)rhino sweep needs some kind of improvement..

11)ensnare shouldnt cost mp at all

12)agilities that are not created magicaly shouldnt cost mp at all

13)increase a little bit the damage of Deadly Poison


BUGS:
you gamble and improve the gambled item. then you leave it on the ground. then you load new char and the gambled item is still on the ground.

is this really a bug?
i can hit a player while he is sleeping and he doesnt wake up:D
