I like all types of music, and even though some people manage to get a bad rep over their genre I consider that as a refreshing change and not necessarily bad.

Yes. But in that rammstein/oomph/deathstars stuff I prefer Turmion Kätilöt and KMFDM. "Blitzkrieg" is still a pretty solid track.

I mainly listen to hip hop, not rap.
"Is there a difference?" Yup, there is. Hip hop has more tact and beats/bass then rap. So basically - I listen to hip hop you can dance on.

Yes I know this thread hasn't had a post in 3 months but...

You guys have got to be kidding me. Simply listening to mtv (mainstream) rap and judging an entire genre based on whats popular.

And for those of you saying rap takes no talent, I'd like to see you have a flow the moves synchronous with the beat behind it.

Mainstream rappers mainly suck, shit like lil' wayne and all that bullshit where they rap about drinking sizzurp (promethazine with sprite and cough syrup) and getting high of suboxone) give rap a bad name. They rap about what they rap about because their record companies tell them what to write about. They tell them to write about what will be popular instead of what is good music. This is what most of you think rap is.

If you want to listen to quality rap, find some independent rappers that don't have people censoring or telling them what to write (and don't sound like retards when rapping). Below is lyrics to a few raps that actually have meaning and well put together lyrics.

There are a few good hip hop groups/rappers, like fantastic four (german old school rap), prinz porno (german old school rap), afrob, ferris mc, king kool savas, laas unltd, optik army, and such, but mainly rap is BULLSHIT, like all those wannabe gangstas like Kollegah, Bushido, Aggro Berlin (they are not anymore there ).

I mainly like Metal though, and Rock... so...

MY VIEW:
Many have met people who say they like all genre's of music, but then deny liking Country, Rap, Rock, Techno or any other thing. I personally honestly and truly do like all genre's of music. I love rap it's in my top 5 genre's easily. But only talented rap.

As for those of you who so ignorantly stated that rap takes no talent, I want you to go and try to write a "good" rap song. ALL music takes talent to make.

It takes no talent to make a rap song. This is true, but it also takes NO talent to make a rock or metal song. The only type of music that TRULY takes talent is classical because if it's NOT made in a special way it's not considered to be classical style music.

Rap takes talent because it's real poetry, just with a beat in the background. I must admit that most mainstream rap is not as good as underground however.

Talent is overrated. Practice is what counts. Anyone can write and compose a song of any genre given appropriate practice.

It was at one point. Most is no longer. However, I have grown a liking to La Coka Nostra and Everlast. I have always loved Everlast.
