With so many custom games out there some of them are bound to fail. But how about those that seem to make it into the mainstream popularity which should be total fail but never go away?

Here's my picks:

Are you a Retard?
If you play this game then, yes you probably are. Pick up this item! HA U LOZE! I want to stab myself for everytime I joined this game. How many? (Hint: I'd be stabbing myself once). Good news! Theres a new version I've seen: Wanna be a Smartie?

Gods Land
Ok, great concept for a game: give everyone unlimited resources and let them go at it! Right? Yes except for one thing. :spell_breaker: I am God and I command thee to stop attacking one another! Is this Simcity? (Never played, can't really see how a non aggressive game works in WARcraft) I don't care if you're Mother Theresa, after 5 minutes of Gods Land you're either in a never ending lag standoff, wipe out everyone or enter the realm of insanity. :ugly:

Run Kitty Run (Featuring everyones least favorite song -performed by hamsters!)
This map was great fun when the hamster dance was still around. Guess what? It's not around anymore. Hey I want to run around in circles to get to the next level to run around in circles to get to the next level to run around in- Hey wait we all died, let's play again!
Can someone please make one version to end them all with every song on their iPod? (Soulja boy that meow!) :zip:

Tired/Sick of DotA? Try my crappy AoS!
No! It's another generic AoS with a twist thats already been twisted before. Nothing against AoS games but they have the least variability in between them hands down. Your AoS focuses on abilities? Mine focuses on items! Totally different! Not

Feel free to hate my picks and share your own.

I was thinking of adding the helms deep maps because 99% of them are totally rigged but at least it was an original idea and accurate.

No, they are not hated enough. Dota corrupts battle.net and doesn't give new games a chance... I also cant stand any other AoS out there... They are repitative and most of their recipes are rigged as hell. I also dont like the Run Kitty Run game. There are so many versions with just changed models and music... and most people who play it are people who dont go back to save you when you die, and they just stand there calling you noob.

Everytime I look in the spell request thread 75% of the requests are for spells from DotA. Wonder why all AoSs are the same...

1.) DotA
2.) Poke the angry ogre rip-offs....
OKAY, THE FIRST WAS GOOD ENOUGH! It was silly for a while... But Jeesh!
3.) Elim Tournament with Laggy Host
... Not... Fun...
4.) Pyramid Escape with Nubs
NO NO DON'T RUN UNDER THE FALLING ROCKS!
No you bastard don't cast heal on that near full health unit!
Etc.. etc...

(edit)

Only the basic concept behind what makes an AoS an AoS is guaranteed to be around the same.
DotA vs DoE? I'm not seeing the sameness...
DotA vs AoM? Similar but I'll stick with the latter.
AotZ vs ToB Mmmkay, see where you're going with this.
AotZ vs DotA What exactly is the same?

(edit)

About the earlier comment about recipes...
AoM barely has any...
AotZ doesn't have any that I know of...
And DoE... I doubt has many if any.

Games like Naruto, Bleach or Anime Arena... they have like 2000 custom modelled heroes whose icons are all nearly the same so it's really hard to select your hero, but everyone else seems to know which ones are good and are already at level 5 before you are done selecting your hero.

Also I hate ALL maul variants, like Megaman Maul, DBZ maul etc.

Speaking of DBZ -- I hate DBZ themed RPs and DBZ in general, it's a sucky show and it's anime so... double-suck.

Defia4nc3

Its not that I like it, it is just too boring. Way too boring, it takes like 30 minutes to get from level 1 to level 3. Thats just messed up.

Also, all these pokemon games and all the immature games that people host. If you want examples, look in the first 10 pages of the Request Forum. Bomberman? Pikachu? Megaman? I mean c'mon! Its Warcraft, and it makes serious modders look stupid when people make maps like that, and it embaresses the Hive, I think, when people request stuff for it. It makes us look like immature people with nothing better to do than make pokemon crap.

defiance is ok... hmm a bad game
well hard to say because i forget/ignore the bad ones and play the good ones....

Loap was ok for rp'ers but when you become a map maker, other than the effort in triggers which is crazy and thumbs up to the makers for that, but the triggers made are stupid concepts, and map seems to be made by a noob, real life for morons is like the upgraded version. But they took it too far beyond and was freaking gay, too many restrictions, not enough tuts in game, just sit you in and tell you to play. For a real life map it's terribly small also.

A good map, that could have used some work, but had alot of effort in it was Quatredans D&D, I swear i've played it over 200 times, i hosted it so much I knew almost everyone who played the game in that time frame.

I know what you mean man, Sometimes there were good edits though but rarely. Was a mario one that actually had effort into it. Also was not rigged. Resident Evil one was ok but needed some improvements, like peacekeeper made no sense.

- DotA Allstars (too much heroes and items = imbalanced)
- Lame AoS rip-offs (bad terrain, uncreative, lacks credits for the imports)
- Angel Arena (lame, extremely imbalanced, horrible AI)
- Don't touch Ghosta (very idiotic game)
- Anime-based maps (there are rarely good ones)
- Pokémon based maps (boring)
- Maps with horrible usage of imports (no proper paths, dummy models added, unused resources etc.)

I'm still amazed people play Are You a Retard? at all...
I don't think DotA is a bad game it is very well made in my opinion but it's also very repetitive and boring from my standpoint.

LoaP variations and Naruto/Anime games always disappoint me when I play them. LoaP Make your own gang! Wow I'm in a gang and I get to ride in a thugmobile instead of a normal car...

Most of the anime games I've tried have tons of crazy imports and a huge storyline that I know nothing about and some aren't even in English or explain how to play. If you know how to play there are cheats and lots of imbalances which discourages new players from playing them (like me) which is why I don't try them anymore.

I hate anything to do with DBZ or Anime. Big fat no.

Angel Arena and Hell Vs Heaven are so horribly unbalanced it's sad

Footmen Wars. Period. 90% are imba. Footmen Frenzy is playable, and balanced pretty well, so I enjoy it.

Tower wars, of any sort. Can't stand em.

LOAP (besides the original and very few offshoots) I despise. Loap v X with X and Y!11! has become the catchphrase. LOAP is the dumping grounds of every noob mapmaker on the planet.

This might annoy people but I really do just hate Dota. How do people become so addicted to it? There's nothing special about it, infact I would prefer to play any game, yes any game then Dota. But then again, there's always a nice classic game of Warcraft3 FFA or 2v2/4v4 in my opinion.

Sorry i hate Dota but ladder wc3 games are even worse for me lol, atleast Dota since I don't play it often has new objects in the game, but still it is a short lived fun time.

Brad... Your right about loap, because when I first started map making thats what I mainly practiced on. Which i didn't rig the maps though, i hate riged loaps. Alot of times i added to terrain and unrigged, so ppl didn't like them because they weren't rigged -.- I mean wtf?!

Footies was fun, still is fun but you must take a break time to time. The LoTR version used to be fav, friend moneymaker created it along with some v's of loap(im talkin older version of non riggness and before items and abilities went beserk.)

I don't think i've ever experience any well made fps games on wc3, sniper one i played annoyed the shit outta me, and some zombie one.

Alot of shitty D&D maps, like one that auto has all the quests, been so long so I can't remember it. Plus it had a shitty camera.

Some versions of orc gladiator, mainly older ones with few classes and items and potions so expensive and extremely hard(just needed team work) which with b.net couldn't always have that. Then some were too easy lol, i could figure out places where only 1 creature at a time could get me so get a pally and i could solo it.

More will come to me eventually... havn't playedo n b.net so can't remember alot of maps.

oh yeah run kitty run Numb encore version, just because i hate Jay-Z

Ladder games.... I play those a lot, but then you get ambushed and your team calls you a noob. Come on people, we are more mature than that, right?

Don't even get me started on loaps... I remember the very original ones were the best, so simple with no cheats.

I don't think the ladders are that bad, I'll play a non custom game every now and then. I think that a lot of these games (LoaP, AoS, Anime/DBZ) just get less and less fun as more people make worse knockoffs that always take away from the original concepts.

God forbid people have shameless fun. Don't take yourself too seriously.

Loap is another way of saying "I'm hosting so you're my bitch."

Majority of Hero arenas have terrible balance or some super secret hidden item you won't get because this is the first time you've played. Same with Hero Line Wars, not always bad but never welcoming.

DotA for the same reasons, it's a breeding ground for idiocy and elitism. It honestly wouldn't bother me if I could filter "DotA" out of my custom game results.

Open RPGs. Lets take a hero, fill a map with enemies, and allow you to save your character so you can load it in new games and kill new players. Honestly if I wanted to grind lots of enemies in an RPG setting I'd play an MMORPG.

I guess any games like the Open RPGs that just drag on endlessly (not because you CAN keep playing forever, but because you HAVE TO keep playing forever to get anywhere decent). Probably why I have such a fondness for games like Worm Wars and Sheeps vs Rabbits.

Gasekura, if I could rep you, I would rep you over, and over, and over, and over again, but I already did on one of your other posts.

Loap is ok, people keep trying to make new versions of it because it isn't protected. Theres always some rigged hero or secret items, yeah, they are cool, but it's not fun for the other players, hell you might as well just try and give all heros nuclear explosion or something like that. Loap is an rp map, most people play and want everything to go their way. Thats not fun at all.

Majority of Hero arenas have terrible balance or some super secret hidden item you won't get because this is the first time you've played.

I dont play hero arenas hardly anymore, because i'm not "pro". How the hell am I supposed to become good if everyone wants "pros"? Same thing with DOTA.

DotA for the same reasons, it's a breeding ground for idiocy and elitism. It honestly wouldn't bother me if I could filter "DotA" out of my custom game results.

If you filtered out DOTA, there wouldnt be much games left on the list. I might as well go play Melee maps.

Warcraft wont be that great for RPGs. Craka's Wc3WoW is awesome, but World Editor IS limited.

Well RPGs don't bother me, it's the ones that try to be "open-ended" and end up boring. It's like giving people a sandbox that has a handful of sand inside. Most of the "quests" don't get much more complex than "Oh noez! Banditz! Go Kill them for us plz!" And they're always about grinding mobs, plain and simple.

Not to mention, while save/load features can be fun (for instance starting out with decent heroes in a game of Humans Vs Orcs) they often are a pain. Open RPGs always have that one guy who beat the game 10 times and has 6 copies of the ultimate weapon in his inventory. He only stopped at level 255 because if he goes any higher he crashes the map. And he'll be sure to camp you the moment you make a comment he doesn't like. Even if he's a nice guy he just goes around taking all the kills and sponging up XP.

But that's just my experience with them.

Oh, and at Doron's mentioning of RP, RP is cool and all if you get a decent group of people willing to play a story (which is unlikely with strangers on b.net). But the one thing I can't stand is those stupid RP - college theme maps. Why would you ever want to roleplay sitting in class, walking around a campus, and throwing wild parties? I mean, only one of those is interesting in real life anyway, depending on your tastes for activities. I've seen some very lame and mundane attempts at roleplay from these games.
