Hi!

I have been working on my map for several months now, and no matter how much time and effort I put down on my map, it just won't be fun when I play it. The gameplay is always really bad, the balance is bad, everything gets messy and hard to understand.

I have rebuilt my maps lots of times, it began as a custom race map, turned into a hero-map, then a mixture of them both, then a map about Gods and now it is some kind of assault map.

During this way, I have added lots of triggers and models and systems, and now my map consists of a mixture of everything..

Many players have laughed at my pesky attempt to make a map, so I began to think about what a good mapmaker is.

- One who makes good terrain, models, skins, triggers, heroes, storys etc.

But the most important thing is to make the gameplay!

Many players who has testplayed my map says that they can make this map playable and fun in 2 days work. I do believe them, but none of them has time to actually do it.

I think this would be a great opputurnity to make a gameplay-contest!
Everyone gets a copy of my map and they shall use the material in the map to rebuild the map so it becomes fun to play!

Have a look at the map here:

What do you think people? Does this competetion have potential?

What is wrong with you people? I don't want you to make a map for me, in that case I would have been looking for some kind of team or partners to help me with my map.

The reason why I came up with this idea is because a lot of mapmakers on this site says: "I know exactly how to make you map playable and fun." Then it would be fun to see if good mapmakers actually can make miracles with this map!
I use the map as an example of how a competetion could be arranged. A competetion where every one participating gets the same "fucked up material" to turn into a playable map. Like Scrapheap Challenge on Discovery Channel. But of course we can use an other map if that is the problem for you.

But for some reasons you don't get it. Probably you don't care either.

Fucking attitudes you have.

Fuck this.

Sorry, Kabel, we were indeed rude. Let me tell you though. At first glance, it's obvious you want this for your advantage. I mean, you are proposing a contest, you don't have to tell us how you thought of it and especially nothing that seemingly involves you in the whole story. I mean, you even uploaded the map with the quote "have a look", not "here is the base map to work on". Just tell us it's the base map, not that you had no ideas how to go on with the gameplay and then wohoo! the idea came in your head. I'm sorry, but I don't find it weird why we thought of that at all.

Anyway, if you make a base outfit of a map and propose (with no backgrounds) to make a fun gameplay, I'll vote for yes. I mean, this is going to be the theme of the contest:
"A basic map is given. Show your skills into adding creativity and making a fun-factor gameplay." with most of judgement being spent over fun factor.

And follow the contest submission pattern to appeal people in a serious manner.

I would go for this.

If someone felt like whippin' up a small map of a said "genre" as a template, and then the contest was to add things and make it the funnest variation possible? That sounds like a really interesting idea.

But the problem is: We don't have a random map here, we're having a map by the host, who wants it for the specific purpose of making us work for him.

On top of that, I think (even if there would be a random map), the contest can barely have a theme (because there are so little possible themes for a contest like this) and it would only kill creativity for many people who are working on their personal projects, since gameplay is hard to be original at, since all kinds of styles have been invented already.
