You can play up to level 20 for free.

If you buy the battlechest for 20£~ you get classic, tbc, wotlk and cata + one month subscription which enables you to level to 85.
If you want speedy leveling I would advice to use recruit a friend which grants you 300% exp when leveling together. If you want we can do that - if you play on the EU servers.

edit: nevermind, it costs 15£ and you up to level 100 which means mop and wod is included as well. Damn they have toned down the price these days.

The f2p model is quite a bit outdated, it has been level 20 since vanilla which used to make a lot of sense when the max level was 60 although it doesn't really make a lot of sense now that the max level is 110.

You don't need to actually buy the game to reach level 20, but buying the game does have some benefits. For instance if you buy the game you can turn of the xp bar for one or several characters as well as join guilds which means that you can now play actively on a twink and join a twinking guild and be a part of that community by buying the game. Remember any character at level 21 or higher will be deactivated once your time runs out, you can still however be part of the popular 19 twink circle as well as other twinking communities such as the level 10 and level 1 twink circle. Both a level 10 and level 1 twink guild exists on Dunemaul-EU the latter of which I am actually the Guild Master of. ;)

So I can play untill lvl 20 if I heve the game installed without the "restrictions" of the demo?

No you will still have the restriction, you can't join a guild and you can't turn of the xp bar but if you've already turned of the xp bar or already joined a guild you wont be kicked out.

If I remember correctly you cannot chat or open/send mails either.
(you can read the chat though)

You can type in guild chat if you're in one already, you can not however type in any of the /(number) chats for instance you can't type in /2 (trade) chat, /1 (zone) chat. You will also not be able to create a party but you can join one and if you're in one you can join the /party chat all you want.
