Earlier this summer, I began working on a survival-based (If it helps, think of the game show) map taking place in the taiga of Canada. The story goes that while flying in a plane with friends to Anchorage, your pilot suddenly has a heart attack. You act quickly to take control of the plane and crash-land yourselves somewhere in the Canadian Wilderness. I wanted the map to feel wild and untamed. I wanted it to feel like you could get lost easily, and you never know whats around the corner. During the course of the game the player would have to hunt or trap for food, build a fire and shelter, and use their intuition to create tools that will allow them to survive better in the wilderness. Ultimately, the players could team up and kill the other survivors, or last late into the game when a storm resurfaces the sunken plane and with it an activatable help beacon.
The following are screenshots of the half-completed map. Any and all suggestions to make the terrain feel more natural and possible ideas for future forests or landscaping would be greatly appreciated (im out of ideas). Also, on a side note, i desperately need someone to help with triggers..but thats not what this threads for
.
A waterfall from a meandering stream. Also in this picture are some deer.
A moose drinks from a stream
A mother black bear watches over her cubs
An long abandoned house
Waterfalls flowing off a mountain side
A birds eye view of about a quarter of the completed terrain
A view of the great lake which is centered in the map
Most custom models are made by myself
all comments appreciated, Thanks!
