I wonder what unit you could use for the night elves? :jd:
The sentry? Or perhaps a druid of the claw?

Would also be cool to have other major races (which are not the primary 4) have units. Some naga, draenei, demons, gnolls even! ...

Just giving suggestions/ideas :grin:

I was going to animate archer vs footman because I wanted to create sync kill animations similar to wh40k dawn of war but didn't think about sentry, Maybe I will consider it happen. What about other units... Maybe I will do Arthas vs Illidan someday. The process is very tiring because I use old software to animate.

Another awesome work. Since this one is Footman vs Grunt, could you also add the attack exchange animations from the Warcraft 3 intro, the one where they fight before Infernal appears and kills them both? That'd be amazing to have along with animations already made.


Damn Blizzard should learn from this good idea for Background cover battle during Cinametic and Gameplay
Blizzard and good ideas sadly dont mix in recent years, unless it's adding another 90 dollar brutosaur mount lol

This Animation also remind me Of God of war 2 when you see Background NPC Fighting
Yeah, now that you mentioned it, it really does. Same thing in first game too.

I said sentry since I envisioned something epic in my head. The sentry doing all sorts or parkour stuff around the footman. All that while swinging her glaive.

One thing I actually think is gonna go crazy hard is a unit against a doomguard. Said unit being some unit that has flexibility and can jump around, dodging the doomguard's attacks and whatnot :xxd:

This is just some inner thoughts I have though, not forcing work upon you!

In the WoW cinematic trailer, a grunt-like orc fights a night elf archer. An idea would be to replay that fight but with some new moves. In the trailer, the archer only defends against the grunt, but she could fight back in your animation sticking some arrows on him by hand in a Legolas-like style or by shooting. Grunt could toss her around like shit hitting the fan and while she recovers he pulls the arrows out like a boss and the fight loops from there. These are just loose ideas based on my love for both units. I can't imagine the hassle of making these things, but I think this one would be very cool.

LOK'TAR OGAR! Let the Alliance feel the brutal might of the Horde!

Now then, beautiful work on the footman's fatality, gives me the Dawn of War sync kill vibes which i always loved about the game. That said, a grunt's fatality would also be appreciated, to showcase that even humans are not without teeth :D

This is starting to feel like some novel where I keep returning to see what happens next in these fights. Kill animations were needed as a conclusion. As a small change, I would have picked death instead of victory because it will directly work with both units and special effects without further triggering, just kill the fx or unit, the anim plays and you're good to go (adding to that, death and death alternate would work easily to separate unit A victories from B).

The kill anim looks very good, I really like how he pushes the axe further into Footman's corpse (poor footie, my favorite. His death is not canon to me XD). I'm looking forward to if footie will get his kill anim, a shield to the face, and a sword thrust in the guts, hell yea. Dead orc is good orc. Hope you're having fun making these, they're so fun to watch. Don't get me wrong I love Grunts, but when pitted against a human I will root hard for the human (Battle Brothers' cursed greenskins are to blame for this, they redefined orcs into a nightmare to me, fucking berserkers. That's the way orcs should be [that and dead, preferably XD]).

The addition of a shield to Grunt is heinous. Even if the shield model was better the concept is still bad. The absence of shields in Grunts makes them look like fearsome, recklessly confident killing machines bred for war. Footman having a shield shows that the Grunt is a life-threatening foe. Adding a shield to the Grunt makes him seem less powerful, as it suggests he fears harm, even from a glorified peasant.

Attachment points would help to customize the fight ingame, but those require a weaponless version. The shield could then be added as an attachment.
I still advocate against the shield, unless it's thrown like a frisbee at Footman's face at the start of each animation! That would be good use.
