First Map: Protect and Destroy(PaD)

I am currently working on a map that is similar to dota. I have the dota templent, but I changed the terrian.

In this map you have to go over to your enemys base, and destroy there god, first the god's building, then the god himself:spell_breaker:

Im going to start with 20char that have custom spells and everything(I will need to study first since im a noob at this stuff)

The ending will be.....unusual, hard to explain, but when its ready to test, you will get it.

Any suggestions?

It's hard to give suggestions when we really don't know anything about it. All you've said so far is that it's like DotA. So, in my opinion, your map qualifies just below the level of crap, right now.

Read the Map Development rules, and follow the rubric for setting up a thread. Be very descriptive, or we can't help you.

Rules and Guidelines - Contains important thread creation rules, READ!

As indicated, those guidelines should be closely followed when introducing a new project. Provide detail about the heroes, spells and special features; be sure to include screen shots. More information translates into more informed feedback.

DotA clones abound: when creating such a map, strive for as much individuality as possible. Heroes, spells and terrain should reflect the author's personal style and be creative, original and unique.

I read it, im not ready to say alot yet, I will leave this thread alone until its ready to be tested or atlease 70% of the way:)

Want some suggestions? i also started with a dota template and created a map with my own style, i.e. ability damages based on hero attributes and a lot of other things....and it turned out well. Im gonna reach about 72 heroes in my next update.

Protect and Destroy

I am currently working on a VS game that is similar to dota, but alot nicer.

note: I don't have any good screenshots yet since it hasn't been tested yet
Summary
In this game you have a choice of joining eather the Cenerias team, or The Lich King team. There are many heros to choice from that have eye popping spells, from each team. The object of the game is to get to the enemys base, and destroy there god's momument. If you do kill there monument, you will face there god!

This game includes many things, including.......

Features
20heros, all of which that have there own custom spells, and are usable for each team. They are all enhanced blizzard models, for examble, I called a wisp "Energy maker" as its "special name"(meaning its not ITS name, it is its special abilitys name)

Custom Spells, all of the spells are special in there own way, some heal, some take life, some take mana, heck, some take building!

Dota Templent, I created dota's templent because its special on how the units and heros move around in it. I did change the trees positions in my own way, the only thing thats really Dotaish about the map is that players can go up, down, and middle. Another thing that MIGHT be dota is codes the host puts into the game that decides the game funcion. I don't have any codes in mind right now, I will leave that till later.

Jass, to all you jassers out there, I will NOT be useing jass in anyway in my map, unless you count jass as a anti memory leak customed script.

GUI, I will be useing GUI for mostly every single spell and ability. I don't know how to make them yet, but I am learning.........which will take me awile since Daelin likes to make his tutorials DETAILED.

Arenas, if you choose the "arena setting" code, every 10 minutes of the game, there will be a team battle(team vs team) or player vs player battle(1v1)


Now you know whats going to be in my map, but I am also aiming to do something no one(that I know) has ever done before.

Misc
When you kill the god's Monument, the god will apear out of the monument, right when the monument's life goes to 0. For that, I want a cinimatic trigger that freezes the entire game, and the camera spins all around the breaking monument with some unusual music. Then, the game will unfreeze, and I want the god to have a "jumping motion" meaning he will jump out of the destroyed monument. He will then say a few comments on how he will destroy the world and other stuff. After that, he will have a blink(red colored) to the middle of the map. He will then say "MWHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" or something like that, and he will get bigger, and he will turn redder until he a big size that doesn't go off map. Right after he stops growing, he will use a customed spell, which makes the entire ground texture turns red. But I want it so that the spell starts from him, and it builds up length by length by length destroying everything in its path(even doodads) When the other teams monument gets destroyed, the same God comming out of the monument; freezing action will happen, but he will say a small lecture and go to the middle of the map and grow bigger until he is all red(Cenerius turns green) Then they will fight. Since everything is maxed out for them, they won't loose even 1 hp without it getting replenished before you could even blink. The fighting will be massive with swirving cameras, lightning, demon storm, etc. There will be path blockers during the fight with a special effect which will look like a big energy gate. The only way to kill your enemys god is to do a challenge, it will be eather a team vs team match, or a 1v1 match. If you win, you get this a idem called "Dark gaunisty" which will enhance one of your spell that you choose. That person, and only that person can go behond the path blocker, and use that spell against that god.......which will trigger a cinimatic ending. The spell or ability that got enhanced will grow bigger, stay longer, do my damage, etc. For example, if I used "Dark Gaunisty: on the spell "chain lightning", The spell will get bigger, it will stay longer, the color will change, and the god will die. When the god dies, he will make a whining lecture, and his dieing effect will still be in play, but you won't see it because of the special effect I will put in. I would put alot of spells in one area where he dies and it will look like he was having "a godly death".(If its possible, I could change there death affect so they turn really light, then they would disapear into the light, then when the light exploads there will be the "godly death" special effect.

This will take a heck of a long time to learn, and do this. But I am devoted to do this.:infl_thumbs_up:

Doodads:100% done
Triggers:5% done
Heros:25% done
Spells:1% done



Well thats all thats in my head for now, any suggestions?

Btw, I don't have good english so I might have spelled things wrong, or my sentences didn't make alot of sense.....Srry:sad:

Advice:
· Take it out of bold.
· Categorize the information. That's a large, tedious chunk of text right there.
· Place it in your initial post, so it's the first thing newcomers to the thread will see.
· Generally make it a bit more pleasing to the eye. Give us a reason to read it.
· Keep in mind that, in general, first map projects are not successful. Just the simple fact that, it being your first project, you don't have very much experience, and despite determination, experience is a must-have.

Sorry if I seem a bit harsh in my advice, I'm just trying to help you make your project as successful as possible. :)
