I want to know what DotA used to have a so great fast load and also protection. In my map, I used the Widgetizer and Optimizer, the load time really great reduced, but not so as like DotA, and dota is protected, and when I protected my map after Optimized and Widgetized in a version ago, the map crashed in the initialization.
I want to know what are the best ways to have a great fast load and also a map protection!
Thnx if you help me!

well maby go to the offical allstars website and ask that cause Icefrog might of used a tool he made himself XD

IceFrog has not made a tool himself, what do you expect, he can advanced programming while having horrible coding in his map?

If you looked at the Credits section in Dota, IceFrog thanks PitzerMike for the Widgetizer (faster loading) and Vexorian for Wc3MapOptimizer (faster execution, smaller size, damages the map when it removes those files == what you guys call "protection", even though it doesn't exist and Vexorian's purpose with the tool never was to create a "protector").

But Widgetizer and Optimizer is what Dota used.

But if DotA uses Widgetizer and optmizer it also uses some kind of protection, because if you try to open the map, a error will ocurr.
When you use the Widgetizer and Optimizer all the files of your map are reomved, the triggers, the abilities... I think that this is the type of protection that the Optmizer grants.
I want to know if some kind of protection stacks with the optimizer and if have more programs to reduce the load, size and lag of the map.
 I want to know everything I need to use and the orders to use them to keep the map low-sized and faster.

It's not. It's WE fault.

And of course all files won't be removed, yes optimizer removes the unneeded files and Widgetizer converts files to slks and txts, but if all files were removed you couldn't play it.

The best solution possible, is to first widgetize the map, then optimize it.

Hmm, I always use this order when create the beta versions to test the map with my friends, then, I think that I'm doing the right thing ^^!
But, if you open the map with the WEUnlimited or another program nothing will change?, The triggers, The ability, the units, everything will be kept?[/url]

It will only removed the files the WE uses, but the map will still have the files the game needs to play it.

Ok, but this method is 100% efficient against those that will try to open my map... I know that the files are removed and the map can be playable without bugs in the game, but, it really protects the map againts invasors?

The only 100% effictive method of "protection" is never to share your map with someone else on battle.net, mail or sites like this.

Yes, removing those files keeps the average n00b from opening your map, but as long as the game can read it everybody can, and learning to edit a map without those files is not hard, but most likely persons that are able to learn it, will be clever enough to make their own stuff instead of stealing others.

But really, protection doesn't exists, it can be openend.

But Optimizer is the best program if you want to "protect" your map, simply because it can optimize the map to the max, by removing all data possible and shortening names in your script and the such.

To don't share in the map is impossible, the map must and needs to be published in the battle.net ^^!
But what I want is keep my map faster and protected, and, in agreement with what you spoke, the best way is Widgetzing and Optimizing a map and is it what I always do and will still doing ^^!
I only created this topic to know if have a way better than this, but I'll still doing it.
Thanks for the help!

By the way, what is most important to you, loading speed or map size or a combination?

Widgetizer speeds loading time up alot.

Optimizer decreases map size alot.

Using them both makes Widgetizer increase the map as much as normal, but Optimizer can't remove as much unneeded space on a Widgetized map as it can on a non-Widgetized one. Still Optimizer reduces size a lot.

I'm glad I could help :).
