I say Baal. He plays with Marius before killing him and "fucks" with the babarian guard before making him explode into blood.

I say Diablo. He was always the hardest for me to kill for some reason. Maybe it was just the monsters leading up to his fight. But still :S

Diablo and Ball was hard to kill. I personally hated especially Diablo fight because it took so long to fight it. Ball's minions were fun to kill, but the Ball itself was a bit annoying(that blue wave).

Mephisto was very easy to kill and is my favorite one. I once defeated it in 1 minute 15 seconds in Hell stage with Frost Sorceress.

Ok I made a horriable mistake....

Mephisto has the ~40 level conviction aura and mega elemental damage. He is the single most common cause of death and ruin out of all of them.
Baal has the physical immune spawns and tons of mana burn so is a pain to fight without mage support. If you get too many ghosts attacking you, you will run out of mana and fail fast.

Diablo is a piece of crap. All he spawns are elementally immune monsters which can easilly be killed by physical builds which you have to use on him anyway. As you have >75% all res already inorder to kill mephisto, you will have no problem surviving his lightning hose. His pitlords can cause a server crash if you let too many spawn so you better kill him fast and then clean them up.

Mephisto, mainly because of lightning damage and the aura !

Because Baal is in the middle. He is not as strong as Mephisto (the strongest of the 3) as he does not deal insane elemental damage but he does burn mana making it hard to do stuff when figthing him.

Diablo is the weakest. Large elemental damage yes, but he has no harmful aura so he can easilly be resisted. His spawns may deal huge physical and fire damage as well as being immune to everything but physical damage but as you are attacking him with physical damage anyway it does not make a difference. End result is an easy battle (if it does not drop you due to all the minions that can build up).

Baal is middle in difficulty. He may not deal as much damage as Diablo but most of what he does will burn most if not all your mana away and without mana you will fail fast. He also spawns physical immunes which are both ghosts (which help burn more mana) and vampire lords (which deal high fire damage) meaning that moping up and keeping him under control without an elemental build helping is near impossible.

Mephisto is the toughest and you have to be a fool to not realise that. He does lightning and poision damage that insane can not described. This is worsened by the fact he uses a stupidly high level of lightning enhanced (so all damage you deal to him causes yet more damage to you) and conviction aura resulting in over 100 lightning resistance to be lost when fighting him. He spawns random elemental skeltons which may suck damage and endurance wise but are always immune to 2 elementes (posion and random non physical) making them hard to kill and he spawns them at a huge rate. Killing him without someone to handle the skeltons requires the greatest of builds and he has resulted in the most uber run failures.

Outside of ubers, they all suck.
Mephisto can be blasted from accross water as a sorcress or amazon for safety.
Diablo just does not deal noticable damage once your resistance are up and he seems to die the fastest of the 3.
Baal is annoying with his knockback and mana burn but a dual slow merc (karpi snair and frost) will render him unable to attack or cast making him essentially the most usless of the 3.
All 3 can be crushing blowed, staticed and slowed. That means a sorcress only ever fights them at half health and can quite easilly have a good merc tank them.

You mean usless Mephisto which can be killed from total safety due to his pathing AI being non existant>
Or Diablo the weak who dies in a few seconds to reasonable builds even on hell.
Maybe Baal the usless as he can not actually do anything once hit with 2 sources of slow.

Ofcourse we must be talking about the Ubers as they are the only real challenging form of the bosses.

I believe most people never even saw them.

your mom.
no seriously, baal.
just because strong and well... different, he didnt gave name to game.
edit: actually, diablo didnt name the game tho, i dont really know. and baal may not be that stronger, and im talking about diablo 2.

1. Play on battlenet
2. Play ladder
3. Get 3 keysets (a set are 3 keys (hate, destruction and terror)) from the summoner (A2), the countess (A1) and nithalak (A5) all at hell difficulty. Or trade them.
4. Transmutate (using the hordric cube) a key set at a time in act 5 town on hell difficulty.
5. Go through the resulting portals and kill the uber mini bosses (uber izual, uber durail and "uber andrial" lizz or whatever).
6. Pickup the organs pieces (whatever organs they were again) that drop when you kill each of the uber minibosses.
7. Fuse the 3 different organ pieces in A5 town on hell difficulty.
8. Go through the resulting portal to the mandimonium event.
9. Face off against all 3 of the prime evils in uber or pandimonium form at once.

Do not attempt this alone. Recommened build is a smiter. Revive necromancer is good for pushing the mini ubers. Spawns appear on last joined player. Do not fight all 3 ubers at once, you will die.

Tristram is a blast if you go at it with a zealadin/1p smiter, given you're equipped for the task that is. COH, BOTD and a perfect Zaka got me several torches without much effort.
Anyhow, I'd have to say Diablo as The Wanderer. Cloaked prime evil, doesn't get much better than that :P

Too bad those are unaffordable to most people. Still used to do it with a cheaper equiped smiter and a hammerdin to kill the skeltons.
Not really unaffordable if you're a persistent prick with your MF Sorc. I farmed Forgotten Tower, Arcane Sanctuary, Andariel and Mephisto for approximately two weeks to afford those two, plus Mephisto actually dropped a perfect Zaka to go with it. But yeah, there are of course cheaper options if you team up.

Where as normal people like me have to farm it for 2 months to afford even a HR.

Highest ruin I had ever drop from non Hell Forge? Ist, only once and I played for years.
Best drop I ever found? Perfect tal-rasha armor, which I used.

Well eminently this game is narrowed down to a) sheer dumb luck - and b) connections.
I have found that being consequent actually pays off though, so I take the systematic approach when I'm gearing up.

Might seem boring, but I only do it like once or twice per ladder, after that I just trade end-game gear to try out different builds of different characters. Plus you inevitably do Tristrams when you're geared for it, thus getting your hands on several torches which are worth quite a bundle.

An unidentified torch is worth a ist (higher prices early on in ladder like 2 ists but that drops quickly by the time you get the gear as you can not compete with bots).
Only sorcoress and palidin torches are worth a base price of 3-4 ists with increasing value up to 1-3 high ruins for a perfect palidin torch and 1 high ruin for a perfect sorcress. A good zon torch is worth up to 2 ists with bad ones mal. All other torches are worth pul unless perfect in which case a mal - ist might be obtainable.

Considering the chances of a palidin and sorcress torch are extreemly low and it is virtually impossible to shift torches that are not them, you are left waiting for hours to make virtually nothing. I have infact seen people throw away reasonable torches as they just are impossible to shift due to low prices.

What is worse is the cost of everything. With dupping, a nice HR like ber for an enigma used to cost 4-5 ists. Now I see HRs going anywhere from 11 to 13 ists. It is impossible to afford anything.

I'm gonna have to say Uber Mephisto.
Out of all the prime evils, he was the only one that ever managed to beat the living crap out of me. The other two were mainly better for story.

How the hell do you even get torches?
Step 1
You have to acquire 3 sets of the 3 keys dropped by Countess (Terror), Summoner (Hate) and Nithalak (Destruction).
The keys have an average of 1/35 chance of dropping, although acquiring a set usually doesn't take long, provided you're geared (which you definitely should be, considering you'll be brushed off by the bosses in step 2 if you're not)

Step 2
Go to Act V, take one set, and transmute them in the cube. A red portal will open to one of three unique bosses portraying Andariel, Duriel and Izual. Each boss will drop one particular organ, namely Baal's Eye, Mephisto's Brain or Diablo's Horn.

Step 3
Go to Act V again, and transmute the three organs in the cube. A portal to Tristram will open, where Baal, Diablo and Mephisto are waiting.
When you knock out the three brothers, the last one will drop an unidentified unique large charm; hellfire torch.

Well... I guess both, really.... Baal is funny AND smart in the cinematics.
Aesthetics-wise.... He looks pretty cool.
Gameplay-wise.... it's different to other boss fights. He spews out minions.
