Aye, that's the right mentality we have here: if you don't know about something, then that thing must be stupid for sure...

Anyway, here's a way to do it:
1. Go to the Motion panel (the one with that little Wheel icon on the main toolbar).
2. Expand the Assign Controller rollout
3. Select the Position controller
4. Click that little question mark button above the controller list
5.Chose TCB or Linear
6. Repeat step 4 and 5 for the other controllers.

It's a real pain in the ass to repeate this for every bone in the rig, so it's better to make a little script for it. It's really easy, just make a loop that will cycle through all the selected objects and change their controllers to this. If you'd look around the max script reference for a little you could figure it out. Well either that or re-make the whole rig, not before making those controllers default (make them default anyway, so they'll be applied to anything from now on)!!

oh my, NO. Why the heck would you need texture for bones?...oh boy...if you asked this because it notifies you that the bones have no texture or material when you try to preview it, is because you did not tell the game engine that those are bones...do so from the User Property editor.

AND BONES != CONTROLLERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations, you just revived a 2 months old ended discussion for something totally useless.
