Well, new experiment for specific characters again. It is a simple, some people probably really will not like that Shalamayne and no scar, but I am personally happy with result

It looks good! Especially since it still has the look but will probably have much lower filesize than those other options so good for large maps that need to save filesize.

Stupid question that I don't know where else to ask, but if I want to use an edited version of Hojo's model (mostly swapping texture on materials), do I need his permission? If yes, then how do I contact him?

So long if I know, you can do whatever you want with his models, if you then give him credit

Well done. But it would be nice if there were still old versions of bonechewers. I also noticed that other models have changed, but fortunately their old versions can be found here.
here they are

Hello,
I want to use this model of Arcane Well, in War3 Model Viewer the model looks just fine (see the image below) but when I place it in WE the team color is all weird, it's blue and kind of sparkles. Could anyone here tell me what the problem is and if possible fix it (or advise me how to fix it if it's an issue on my side)? At least I would like people to try out the model so I can know if it's not just me.
Thank you

Tutorial
Hello guys, I decided to make little tutorial for you how you can make your own simple models. I making this, because even that I have here more success than I ever could imagine I can have, I knew HIVE for 8 years, and I found out how to make models just two years ago! And in the end, it was relatively easy.
I just reminding you, I will just "teach" you here how make simple models, mostly based on other models(Ujimasa, Johnwar, Jiok, etc.). So if you have ambition to make, I do not know, Paladin with orcish head or Ogre with sword, or Wyrm with two heads, I am sorry, but this post will not help ya. Really, just simple work. Even though it is simple, I will explain in words and in pictures every smaller detail, also some stuff manipulation with Matrix Eater and Model Editor. Why? Well, just for people who ever before manipulated with editor or eater. Also, you will see how set textures, so if not make your own models, you can edit other ones. Anyway, lets go.
For this tutorial, I made this punk.
TutorialSwordsman.png

How did I made im? Let me show you.
First of all, you need open model editor. For making itself model, you need basis and texture, which one, depends on your idea. You can get texture by two ways.
First, you can get it from mpq files through MPQ Browser.
Step1Alternative-OpenMPQBrowser.png
Step2Alternative-SelectFile.png

Step3Alternative-SelectTextures.png
Step4Alternative-SelectTextureYouWant.png

Step5Alternative.png
Step6Alternative.png

Also, some textures are in files with its models. Like Archmage texture we need.
Step7Alternative.png

Also, there is other way. You can export textures from models, as I did.
Step1-SelectModel.png

Step2-ClickOnTextureManager.png
Step3.png
Step4.png

After you export all of your textures, you open basis of your model in The Matrix Eater(also set Files of type to Binary models always)
Step5.png

Also, we can actually open model that have thing we want have in our final model. In our case, it is my stormwind guardsman.
Step6.png

We open the model in Eater, and we will cut pieces we do not need.
Step7.png

Step8.png
Step9.png
Step10.png

After you delete parts you do not need, you save model.
Step11.png

According to same principle, we will cut all other parts we need. But this parts always do not look like we want, below is this stormwindian shield with Garithos shield texture, but I do not want to give my model stormwindian shield, I want my own. So, it is time for mapping
Step12.png

Step13.png

After we have opened maping, we load texture we want.
Step14.png

(here always click "no")
Step15.png

After we open texture, we manipulate with these outlines, we decading with this how will texture "sit" on model. Also, there are move types of manipulation than moving, you can also rotate and scale.
Step16.png

Step17.png
Step18.png

Step19.png

Step20.png

After we make mapping, we will see how our part looks like in editor.
Step21.png

Oh, also you need set your texture.
Step22.png

Step23.png

Step24.png

Step25.png

Step26.png

and then oulala...
Step27.png

This is only for control how it looks, after you merge it to your basis and you create your own model, you will have to do it with all parts you need. Anyway like this shield, you make all other parts, then you are ready to merge this parts to your basis model, in our case, aliance guardsman.
Step28.png

(also, notice geoset numbers, if you just have part alone like this, it does not matter and number is always 1, but if you want to merge some part from whole other model, you can, but you need to know what is number of geoset with that part. Also, I am showing this image just to tell you this, you do not have too open parts for merging everytime before you are doing it, you can freely have opened only basis model itself)
Step29.png

Then, how merging itself looks like. We found some geoset of basis we like, its idealy if it geoset with same texture as your part suppose to have.
Step30.png

Step31.png

select part file and click "open"
Step32.png

Step33.png

again, do not forget about geoset numbers
Step34.png

do not delete old part before you merge new one. If you will do so, geoset will be deleted completly
Step35.png

After you on same principle merge all your parts, you will have your model, then just save it, open in model editor, set textures and you will have what you want.
Step37.png

Okay, actually all is okay, but I do not like sword. I want blade to have samiliar shape like blood elf lieutenant, because asimetric swords are gay. So we will save model(REALLY do not forget saving, because if you will not do it, changes you have done in editor(set textures) will disspear, and really do not want that especially when you are making an building where there 30 geosets) and then open it again in Eater. Making shape is easy, same principle like in mapping.
Step38.png

Step39.png

And now we are done, we have simple and pretty model.

So for what are you waiting for? Go and make your own model, I hope this thread will inspire more guys like me to create simple models.

I read your textbook, and I ran into a problem.how do I link bones to a new geonet?
When I merge a geocet, all the bones are mixed at the geocet.

Hi, Ilya. I would like to know what other models do you want to make?
Hmm. good question. I think for some time, I will continue with orc buildings. There are hundreds of castles and packs for humans, just look at Bark and his jewels. I think i will give atention to orcs.
But to be honest, I am recently kinda burned-out. See, I have college, and other hobbies, so yea. Also, I know it is kinda my fault, but seeing my model packs with 30 models in, downloaded 2000 times and used almost nowhere, it's kinda deppressing.

Hmm. good question.
I know the feeling of yours, but thats what it is. It needs time to implement things, and the campaign and mapmakers to use them. Instant gratification is not a good thing to chase.

Why do it for others, the main thing is for yourself :)
