Hi! Having played around with the editor for a while I think I am ready for a bit of a go at a real map. Development is an idea that popped into my head for a city development game with a difference. The player controls 7 unique characters and has to build a society.
1. Electrician - He holds the power of communication and electricity. Use him to communicate between characters and upgrade existing structures with the use of his power plants.
2. Designer - Uses information from the other 6, the designer channels his creative influences to develop new units and buildings.
3. Researcher - All he can do is analyse buildings and nature to unlock new units and buildings.
4. Bioscientist - She can use her knowledge of life science to improve conditions of existing buildings AND create her own buildings, such as the hospital.
5. Mechanic - Creates Veichles based upon the designer and researcher's blueprints. Veichles are important for getting to new areas.
6. Chemist - an unusual character, the chemist has no specific use. He helps with a product every so often.
7. Architect - the main builder. He gets information from the other 6 to build buildings, bridges and units.
Information is split into 2 categories:
Gathered Information - This can only be used by the character.
Shared Information - By using 'Share Info' characters can turn gathered information into shared information. Shared information can be used by any character. This process is made easier by the electrician's phone and internet masts.
An example of how the game MIGHT play out:
The architect builds a bridge over the river where the characters start out, then begins to build houses around and about. The researcher finds some mammals and analyses them. He relays info to the other characters so that the Bioscientist can create a farm. The farm is an addon to a house that makes it into a farmhouse, with tamed beasts. Tamed beasts are easier to analyse, so more information is gotten. This is relayed to the mechanic, who creates a 'walker' - a fast moving mobile veichle that can crush rocks. Crushing nearby rocks causes a crystal to appear. The crystal is analysed, and the designer sets to work finding a use for it.
And so it goes on.
What do you guys think?
