Hey. I've spent a long time editing the skins and vertices of a certain model, and it seemed to be coming together ok. Then, I imported it into WE for a few test runs, and it still seemed to function fine.
Unfortunately, the next day I tried to load the map, and world edit, upon loading the certain map's units, crashed. Immediately. I've worked a long time on this map, and all the backups had this model file, and thus too are corrupted. I can't even get into WE to take the model file out of the map.
Any suggestions short of scrapping the entire map?
Thanks...

Ok, I'm giving it a shot... the model's fairly low in poly count, though, has no particle effects, nor does it have any custom animations.

I just got another error message:

This application has encountered a critical error:

FATAL ERROR!

Program c:\programfiles\warcraft iii\War3.exe
Exception: 0xC0000005 (Access Violation) at 001B:6F4DECE0

The instruction at 0x6F4DECE0 referenced at memory '0x0000000C'.
The memory could not be 'read'.

Press OK to terminate the application.

(Whew, this was killer to type!)
Is this more corrupted model file stuff, or is this something different?

Have you checked for these in the model?

Rao Dao Zao said:
# GeosetAnims that do not point to a geoset (ie no 'GeosetId' line).
# Dodgy extents -- negative maxes and positive mins (beware when editing the Marine and Tauren).
# Team-colored particles (when not modified from an existing emitter).
# Animations which last 0 seconds.
# Lights when attached to root bone (only sometimes).
# Certain texture animations (if not done properly).
# Polycount (if higher than 100000).
# Faulty Ribbon Emitters.

You could try using an MPQ editor to delete the model out of the MPQ / map.
I could give it a shot if you want.
