Description exclusively ability.

There are no place holders among the available abilities, which serves only to strictly have an image with a description in the command card without actually doing anything, right?

I was thinking of using something like a copy of Elune's Grace, changing all modifiers to 1.00 and changing the description, which as far as I can tell, would be an allright ability to use simply for a description about something regarding the unit itself, but not actually doing or adding anything.

Stuff like True Sight is useful for that kind of helper ability, just set the detection type to none and it's virtually a useless ability on its own.

You can also search ability names with "icon" in the editor, as the name suggests they are only used to put an icon in the command card, although I can't remember if they were present in older versions of the game

Edit: Tried it! No dice. There seems to be nothing like that in the 1.28 version I'm running.

Yeah I suspected that these must've been added recently. Another option is Storm Hammers, the ability itself doesn't do anything since all is handled by the gryphon upgrade, so that's the ideal dummy icon I believe

Some if not most of the Upgrade abilities are just there for a tooltip/icon since their effects are handled through the actual Upgrade itself.

You mean abilities with shown icons but does nothing? If that's the case, try Storm Hammers and Moon Glaive. If abilities that does nothing, and also show no icons, you can try Spiked Barricades or various item abilities like Item Armor Bonus.
