Put a region around the firepit.
Go to triggers.
Animations - Pick doodads of type in region and play animation
set doodad type to firepit and animation to 'hide'
This will not remove the path of the doodad however so you may want to set its path to none in the OE. You can use a pathing blocker then and use triggers to get rid of it too.
Although if you do all this you might as well just make the firepit into a destructible and get rid of it that way.
