Something I've come across in RPG styled games is a damage table for individual spells based on the caster's intelligence.
two in particular:
Shining soul 2, for the GBA

Had an ability called demon breath, a simple projectile that did aoe damage.
however the damage table, which was not on any wiki went something like:
1 - 9 Intelligence Base
26 - 30 Damage

10 - 20 Intelligence
33 - 39 Damage

21 - 33 Intelligence
39 - 47 Damage

34 - 48 intelligence
47 - 55 Damage

49 - 65 intelligence
53 - 62

66 - 84 Intelligence
59 - 70

85 - 105 Intelligence
67 - 79

106 - 128 Intelligence
72 - 87

Or something like Dark souls

Has something like this for soul arrow using the basic catalyst:
(x being the spell damage y being the intelligence stat.)

My question is whether or not this is a formula or some arbitrary table that is behind the curtain.
