Damage reduction upgrades?

Is there any way ability based on damage types? I want to have a upgrade that reduces damage from siege attacks reduce by X%. Or would this need to be triggered?

Well, you can change armor types via a simple upgrade or maybe just add armor/health points.

But besides those, it needs to be triggered.
