Damage base on missile system

Hi all,

Since a unit is attacked for range is not accurate.
I was thinking how to use missile system for my unit say Archer.

If archer attacks, i create a missile? But if i do that, wouldn't the archer do additional damage when its default arrow hits?

You should make the archer's attack instant, so the second damage is dealt by the archer you know to initialize the "custom missile". Then, give all units a custom copy of "Hardened Skin" that negates 100% of ranged damage (so that the damage on the archer doesn't have to appear to be 0).
