"If at first you don’t succeed, destroy all evidence that you tried."
That doesn't work generally, but only for negative aspects.

Also, do not double post please. And if you are not the one to conceptualize those quotes, please mention who made them.

“Kafka's fiction examines a universe largely unexplored in the literature preceding him, one full of implications that venture into the remote regions of human psychology. It's a universe with different rules than those governing our reality. And there's no map.”

Sun Tzu: 'Never back your enemy into a corner, for men fight fiercely when they see no way out'

I'm loosely quoting of course, but his idea was that you surround the enemy but leave an escape route which you booby trap like heck!

Which is funny when you consider he claims to be leaving them a way out :D

Sun Tzu: 'The Emperor is an idiot, the virtues easily goaded out, the stubborn surrounded, the arrogant quick to attack, and the meek always in submission.'

Again I'm loosely quoting because hell I'm not going to google it when memory serves with a poor reflection that works anyway.

Here he was saying that as a commander you can't be the Emperor, or rather you don't want the Emperor around because he is an idiot when it comes to war. You can't have a kind hearted person because the enemy can use that against them. You can't have a stubborn person, who sticks to his tactics even when they don't work, because they will soon find themselves surrounded. You can't have an arrogant person because they are hot headed and react rather then come up with proper strategies before attack. Finally you can't have a placid general because they will retreat, or be afraid of attacking.

Like like Tzu :)

Tzu(a quote I remember): "When outnumbered retreat to higher ground, if higher ground isn't available then retreat to familiar ground"

Tzu(another quote I remember): "High ground easy to defend and hard to retreat from"

the one that knows nothing, believes he knows a lot

the one that knows a lot, knows he knows nothing

which one is better off?

ignorance is bliss

....

is it better to die by the hands of a friend or an enemy?

“Isn't it grand, isn't it good, that language has only one word for everything we associate with love - from utter sanctity to the most fleshly lust? The result is perfect clarity in ambiguity, for love cannot be disembodied even in its most sanctified forms, nor is it without sanctity even at its most fleshly. Love is always simply itself, both as a subtle affirmation of life and as the highest passion; love is our sympathy with organic life.”

Ha. The black keys are actually those who help make the major chords which leads to happy music.

"Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets. So love the people who treat you right, forget about the ones who don't and believe that everything happens for a reason. “you must know that we poets cannot take the path of Beauty unless Eros joins us and sets himself up as our guide; indeed, though we may be heroes after our fashion and virtuous warriors, we are nevertheless like women, for passion is our exaltation, and our longing must remain love-that is our bless and our shame.”

"Listen to this. I know a banker, grey-haired business man, who has a gift for writing stories. He employs this gift in his idle hours, and some of his stories are of the first rank. But despiteI say despite-this excellent gift his withers are by no means unwrung: on the contrary, he has had to serve a prison sentence, on anything but trifling grounds. Yes, it was actually first in prison that he became conscious of his gift, and his experiences as a convict are the main theme in all his works. One might be rash enough to conclude that a man has to be at home in some kind of jail in order to become a poet.”

“You have never spent any time in theatrical circles, have you? So you do not know those thespian faces that can embody the features of a Julius Caesar, a Goethe and a Beethoven all in one, but whose owners, the moment they open their mouths, prove to be the most miserable ninnies under the sun.”
