"During the joint Alliance and Horde battle against the Lich King, the Scourge employed flying undead Nerubian creatures in an effort to repel the invaders. The Forsaken 'aquired' several surviving undead Nerubian specimens following the fall of the Lich King, allowing their apothecaries and alchemists to conduct horriffic experiments on them.
The fruit of their research is the Crypt Drone, a flying monstrosity with spider and wasp-like features that can be morphed from Crypt Fiends. Crypt Drones are able to shoot their venomous stings at both ground-based and flying enemies, poisoning them over a period of time. If that wasn't enough, some Crypt Drones can even infest their enemies with flesh-eating parasites, allowing them to spawn flesh worms from the corpses of fallen enemies that are killed under this effect."
Okay, so what we have here is an Undead flying unit that is heavily based off the "Nerubian flyer" concept art made for Wrath of the Lich King found
here. As you can see, the Crypt Drone bears some resemblance to the Crypt Fiend. This is because the unit is intended to be morphed from the Crypt Fiend in a similar manner to Zerg units. Yeah, you can blame Starcraft II: Heart of the Swarm for that idea...
The Crypt Drone is also the first model that I have animated completely from scratch! Well, 90% of it anyway. The other 10% is the Gargoyle's hovering movements but this is barely even noticable.
This model uses ingame textures, so no need to worry about texture paths. Just simply import both the model and the portrait into your custom map!
If you want to use this model then feel free to do that, provided that you'll give credit to me in return.
