Creating custom icons for hero abilities.

First, open up a map and go into the advance section
you will see a option called Game Interface and game constants.
Picture01.JPG
Next, lets open game interface
When you open it up you will see a lot of stuff.
At the upper left corner is an option use custom interface click it
Picture02.JPG
Now, double click on something you want to change.
For this example lets change attack type chaos.
Double click what you want to choose
Now go into the import part of it and open it
NOTE: be sure to click the non-upgrade one or you might get confused why it wont work.
picture03.JPG
NOTE: I have units section open up and the import section up.
Now choose something appropriate
Hellfire is like fire so I’m choosing that,
Now click ok
Next scroll down a lot till you get to “chaos” or whatever your doing (its in alphabetical order).

NOTE: If you don’t have a upgrade icon(small black box in lower left corner of icon) to show what upgrade it has just use the same icon as no upgrade.
Now scroll down.

If you are doing what I’m doing its in the general section now click on chaos and you will see this
Picture06.JPG
Well almost that I have already changed mine into type fire not chaos
When you’re done click ok.
Now if you want the “chaos does blah to blah” then scroll up till you see text-general-Chaos attacks do damage to Divine beings. Click it and change that
Now test your map mine is,
picture07.JPG
yes I am aware that he has the call of whatever and i'm fixing that….eventually.
now go to the editor and go into game constants,
as a side note when scrolling down and you see combat damage you can change how much damage is took extra or less,
but to the point scroll down.
Picture08.JPG
I’ve already edited my stuff now just click one of these and change its value then click ok and your done!
congrats you know how to change icons names descriptions combat damage and hero stats.
Also to change the name of strength for heroes and stuff like that do the same thing as you I did to chaos its in general-text remember it’s in alphabetic order.
EDIT: picture 4 wont upload becuase "it is already uploaded if im doing something stupid on this problem tell me.

Ehrm... Order the text a bit together with the images, make the images a bit more clear.
Make the text a bit spread and maybe using some colors to better view.
Its pretty good that there is a tutorial like this.
Fix up those things !
The images arnt clear cause i had to reduce the size to get them on fileshack(this is a repost from the old site) ill try and find a way to make it clearer

Afan: You last edited this tutorial on 02-03-2007 at 10:43 PM. It requires a great deal of further improvement.
  • You stated that you were going to capture screenshots of higher quality. This is a must: the field values in the various interfaces are not clearly visible.
  • As indicated above, the instructions provided are jumbled together in a most confusing fashion. The text must be far better organized.
  • Many of the instructions are vague: unclear and non-specific.
  • Numerous errors of spelling, grammar and punctuation are present in this tutorial.

Each of theses shortcomings must be fully addressed before this tutorial can be approved. If you have any questions or require assistance, contact me via PM: otherwise this document will soon be moved to our graveyard.

*edit* Thanks for contacting me about this Afan. If you wish to edit it in the future, just let me know.

~ Thread moved to Graveyard.
