Change units attack to ranged

:ned: I just had an idea... I'd have to test it first, but maybe you could:

-Have 2 exact copies of your unit, one with melee and one with ranged

-Create an ability based off of Metamorphosis that, by changing a few values, will allow you to switch between a melee and a ranged version of the unit with a click of a button

-You should probably also create 2 copies of this ability; one for the melee unit to shift to ranged, and one for the ranged unit to shift to melee. :ned:

well im a begginer with worl editor but if i would need something liike this i would change models like : i want a footman to mele atack but then he finds a crosbow so he picks it ap (model changes) and now hes \ranged ;)

EDIT : sorry i writed the same thing that some guy sed :) anyways... :D

if you want him to transform without clicking the ability, make an ability based on "Chaos"

Chaos allows you to change your unit from one to another.

When the unit picks up the item, add your edited Chaos to the unit.

When he drops it, add an ability based on Chaos to turn it back to the first unit.

Solution #1: Give two attacks to the unit, one ranged and one melee, and switch between them using upgrades and triggers. (triggers when to research the upgrade)
Solution #2: Use the Chaos ability as mentioned.
Solution #3: Use an item ability that grants ranged attack against air units. Come to think of it, you could try setting the targets of that ability to Ground and Air.

Just a side note:
If your unit is a hero, DO NOT USE CHAOS.
Chaos on heroes might be useful at some point as it keeps the level/attributes/skills/hp/mana/cooldown and only changes the model. BUT: It will take any bonuses that is applied to the hero and ADD them to the new hero. Like your damage is 10 + 5, then the new hero will have the damage of 15 + 5.
