Moin moin =)

Well well, because blizzard thought, everyone would have the idea, to pick every unit in an interval and check if the picked unit has the buff and add them into a group. Then pick every unit in this group, check if the unit hasn't the buff anymore and remove it.

But at all, it's the same question as "Why add Blizzard the function "Do nothing()" ^^

yea like to make the code to do that simple thing is sooo inefficient in a polling loop than if they just made that buff detect event. those s.o.b's.. lol

and they probably added the do nothing thing becuz they have those 1 liner if-then's that no one ever uses.. lol
  • If (((Triggering unit) is A structure) Equal to True) then do (Do something..) else do (Do nothing)
but yea, dumb non the less

yea i think if this whole community backed a letter they woulda added that in some patches im sure.. i mean they added hashtable functions maybe they would add some nice things like that too :p
after all they do recognize this site as Ralle said before when he had 100 free sc2 beta's to hand out to ppl

all of the triggers that exist now are the ones used in campaigns, they never thought it would be used for this.

but SC2 is diffrent, its designed for map editing, even then, i still prefer warcraft, have you played the custom games on SC2? its a joke, and its simply not funny, it don't even feel fun.

i don't know why you guys talkin about SC2 in Wc3 section, its up to the user which they prefer, there is still some world editor left, don't force them to go into galaxy editor, and don't even think of advertising it.

i do think people learn better in world editor, because of its limitations, they tend to make the impossible from it. :)

sorry to say, i really hate you Dr Super Good, you go on advertising galaxy editor everywhere, trying to take away remaining world editors.
stop brining galaxy editor in Wc3 Section, please.

it does say "World Editor Help Zone" isn't it?

What buff are you talking about? Maybe it can be picked up by another event. Also, if it is just for the buff icon in the unit display, you could inverse it and apply adding/removing yourself. There are some buff systems out there that polish the process and can then provide events for these custom added/removed buffs. It is not that uncommon these days that all abilities are triggered.

Well as already said before, you can just loop through the units...

and if you ever need a system, Anitarf's Buff System is kinda cool, it lets you create very versatile buffs when used together with other systems... ^_^

and even if Blizzard intends to take away all of the people from wc3, its pretty hard to actually achieve it... but if they make SC2 free, then its another story... haha...

The only thing I have to say about Galaxy Editor is that it needs a decent computer to run it, something not everyone has (for example, my laptop).

StarCraft 2 Min Requirements

  • 2.6 GHz Pentium® IV or equivalent AMD Athlon® processor
  • 12 GB available HD space
  • 1 GB RAM (1.5 GB required for Windows Vista®/Windows® 7 users)
  • DVD-ROM drive
Bribe's Computer

  • 1.66 GHz Intel Atom
  • 100 GB total HD space, every little bit is precious
  • 1 GB RAM with Windows 7, which means I need 1.5 which I don't have
  • No optical drive
And that's the MINIMUM. Not even the recommended.

yeah, that's one of the reasons why I dont have SC2... the other one was that I'm not a fan of it, but the editor looks cool so maybe someday... I need a new comp anyway, to play new games...

my laptop was:
Intel Dual Core 1.76GHz
Intel GMA 950 224MB
Win XP SP2
1 GB Ram
70GB HDD [divided into two partitions] (so every bit is more precious than on Bribe's)...

Booms computer:

Intel i5 760 - 4 x 2,8 Ghz
Gtx 460 Hawk
8 GB RAM
Win 7 64-bit
500 GB HDD + 3 1Tb external HDD'S ;)
Well well Starcraft 2 flies away with this but I think it's offtopic XD
[But at all how can you play this game on a laptop anyway?! -> computer with 24" monitor, thats the key!]

I don't mind opening a can of worms sometimes xD

But for real i love WC more than any game pretty much, and yea SC2 im sure is cool but i'll wait for wc4 if it ever comes.. also i hear they made the sc2 G.E way over complicated and not super user friendly.. just making 1 unit takes for ever because of how complex it is and how much customization you can do. (which is neat if you care about units that much) bu i think thats the boring time consuming stuff anyone can do.. that part should be fast and easy..not take up the most time..

anyway i just thought it would be nice to have a unit gains (specific buff) unit event.. it would make this W.E have a ton more easy possibilities if it did.. i would pay for them to make a patch update with a few add's like this.. and also maybe a way to refference the unit that is coming into a units range! lol like this.. link
