bumps?

Oooooooh, a potential loop hole. Why did you have to disclose it? >_>
If you generalize the rule as "it is /forbidden/ to bump your thread within 48 hours", the method you describe is included.

Then again, people used to bump their threads within a period of 48 hours and nobody seemed to care (despite it being forbidden, because the rule explicitly states that it may only be done after 48 hours, ergo on the third day).
Also, people usually disregarded the following:
FAQ said:
You may not submit one or more posts after you've posted (double-post, triple-post, quadruple-post...).
I have seen several threads where people bumped several times (abiding the 48 hours rule, though).

A matter of interpretation? Of who keeps an eye on these matters? Perhaps these rules are more like 'guidelines' after all?

Let's see what the ladies of the Police Department have to say.

I do that, it is the only way I actually bump. I see no problem with it though.
I only bump if I have any relevant information and I delete the last post and add to it in the new one.
Bumping just for the sake of bumping on the other hand...
I actually consider deleting old "bump" and replacing it to be more "ethical" than subsequent bumping even if it is 48 hours apart, simply because it has the same effect but I don't cheaply up my post count by 1.

I only bump my thread if its really just something important but well.. most users here just bump their threads with no important information or something.

Seconded, i do the same, a little different:
I just don't obey to the 48 hours rule, i obey it half, i only wait 24 hours :p
and i only bump my thread just to update some information and sometimes when i said something wrong that should be repaired very fast

I think one time, one of death is my name or almia told me that i was reported for spamming xD, it was the first time i bumped

@ the thread now, this isn't very important if the user has a REAL reason for it, not just to "bump", in that case, he should be warned like Adiktuz

Since they're not the law, Internet forum rules are always guidelines
