"Say hello to Skelly, the undead, evil sorceror. He likes throwing dangerous spells at people, bringing dead stuff back to life, and drinking tea with his fellow dead cultist pals." (He likes his tea with milk and sugar.)

Icon for a skeletal sorceror/necromancer/any kind of spellcaster/whatever.

100% free-hand, made with Corel Painter and Paint.NET

***UPDATE***

-Used my magical "Outlines-b-gone" spell.
-Increased saturation of the skull.
-Added a tad more shading to the skull.
-Decreased over-all "blob-iness" of the icon.

-Added glowing cracks on the skull.
-Lowered the edge between hood and forhead.

-Made less blurry.

-Increased contrast.

zombie2279: Not that bad, but it's seriously too cartoonish. First of all, decrease the thick, black outlines. They really decrease the realism factor. The cloak is okay-ish, but the part on the head looks a bit weird. Since the skull is in focus, it should be given the largest amount of work, yet it seems to be the most simple. Make sure you utilize sufficient amounts of shading to make the skull somewhat realistic. Note that too cartoonish icons usually don't get approved unless they're of really high quality.

    Please update once you return.

zombie2279: It's a bit messy, but enough changes are made. Approved.

"made with Corel Painter and Paint.NET"

    Says the description

Anyways, looks a bit cartoonish. You might want to add some details on the skull

Well, I know it looks a bit cartoonish, but that's the way I make things now-a-days :]
But thanks for the advice, I'll see if I can do something about it when I'm done with my current project... :)

the fact that this isnt useful isn't helping the case but ill write a full review anyway.

The Skeleton is quite simple and lacks a whole lot of shading along with the fact that it isnt really utilizing proper colour techniques used to create a skull. (i.e. A skull is not just white. adding a bit of yellow and small amouts of brown could impove the realism)

The cloak is quite alright. but still lacks a bit of realism. All in all, it is way too cartoony and i saw the post that says your icons are more cartoons... that isn't really going to get them approved. they don't match wc3 style and arent all that useful.

So my final rating is, 2/5 LACKING. Fix up those things that i mentioned and i will throw in a better rating.

Meh, since I suck at explaining I edited the icon a bit to show you what I mean (sorry for not asking permission but it's just a example)

No no, by all means, that's okay. You don't have to ask for my permission to show me examples of how you'd improve my stuff. Now that I see what you mean, I'll get right to editing! Well, after a good night's sleep. I want to finally have a good nap after all the travelling -.-

The top part, where the skull and the cloak meet is blurred and empty. I suggest you either placing a bigger cloth piece on the forehead, adding some sort of detail element, like a crack, a glowing rune, or doing what X.e.r.e.X. recommended.

This looks really fucking cool. I love your style, and I love the skull. It could be a tiny bit sharper around the edges, though, because right now it's a bit blurry.

Better, but as Void pointed out, the edges still need sharpening, the part on the forehead mostly.
