Just my lore for a map I'm making. I like it and yes it is quite inspired by Diablo's story.

Chapter I: Origins of the World
Before time itself, there was a fiendish creature. It drifted through space, which was in that era a black wasteland of nothing. Nobody can define it's physical form -- but it is known that the creature had ten heads. These heads constantly fought for eternity, fighting with each other in their minds. This creature was dangerous to itself. The power of the fighting heads was imploding inside the universe. When the heads clashed, invisible shock waves shook the void, creating rocks and minerals. When the heads fought, quakes of phenomenal power exploded and flung these rocks in all directions. When the heads thought to themselves rebellious thoughts, gusts of life struck the large rocks in the black wasteland. The creature was creating planets without it's notice.
Worlds began to form, each taking on a spherical shape. Soon, the black void was full of motionless, but perfectly spherical, rocks. The creature thought to himself, each head putting in it's input. Three of the heads wanted to breathe life into the planets. The other seven wanted to destroy them. War broke out again, each head tearing at each other, ripping and biting. After many years (the creature's wounds continuously rejuvenated themselves) the heads decided to walk on one of the planets. It was a large planet, but it was still just a clump of rock.
The heads argued again, and this time ferociously grappled each other into the ground, which they hadn't been able to do in space. The blood of the creature continued to spill, sinking into the ground. It was the seven heads versus the three heads. The three were called the 'Trio of Life', whereas the seven sought the name, 'Shape of Destruction'.
They continued to fight, Life versus Destruction, until eventually they left the planet. But the amount of blood splashed on the land had created rivers and lakes, seeped into the ground and sprouted green plants and grass, and continued to build up inside the middle of the planet -- the core, burning itself to fuel the planet. Animals evolved from the plants, life was created, and after millions of years the first humans had evolved. The planet was helping them -- blooming random fires out of nowhere to secure warmth for the men and women, driving animals towards hunters.
Meanwhile, the creature fought in space, millions of kilometers away from the planet. Finally, the Trio of Life sacrificed themselves to save humanity -- they attacked the body of the creature, ripping it's (their) heart and lungs and ribcage. They devoured organs, then flung their skin into space. The seven attempted to stop them, but it was too late. After the last rip from one of the three, the creature exploded.
The explosion shook humanity's planet. When they looked into the sky, they saw a bright circle about the size of a hand. It burned, and continued to burn. It burned for hundreds and thousands of years afterwards. The creature was nowhere to be seen, and humanity lived on.
Chapter II: The Mightsworn, and the Rebellion
Humanity grew, forgetting the creature and the heads and the bright circle of fire in the sky. Occasionally, massive shooting stars would light up the sky, but never hit the planet. Castles were erected, and a new era began. Kings and Queens, swords and shields,
trebuchets and catapults. Humanity thought itself the creators of the universe.
The lands between the clear blood of the creature (which Humanity named the Ocean) were separated into countries for kings to rule. One such country was led by a man who thought only of power and greed. He created an army, the Mightsworn, and ruled his country with an iron fist. He went to war with adjacent countries, and the first drop of human blood was spilled by purpose.
As it hit the ground, the grass began to shrink in the spot. The first battlefield, now called Deadshire, was once a beautiful valley of flowers and greenery. But when the creatures' blood and the humans' blood mixed, the plantation killed itself.
The Mightsworn's home country eventually rebelled, and their leader was slain in a ferocious battle. The Mightsworn were no more, instead scattered mercenaries and soldiers around the world. Peace reigned the planet. But whenever somebody looked at the glowing bright ball of fire, doubt and fear filled their minds.
Chapter III: The First Fall
When humanity was at it's greatest, another war broke out over land. The Mightsworn were no more, instead two adjacent countries bickering over the rights to a small crop of hills in between. Both countries wanted the riches and ore that lay underneath the untainted and untapped land.
As they fought, the first fire fell. A hundred men and women from all over the world got insight into the future, and the power killed most of them. Those that survived were known as the Ascended. The ball of fire sent out a shock wave which shook the entire planet, and the next day a massive asteroid hit the ground near one of the ten remaining Ascended.
The force killed him, but instead of dying he disappeared into a wist of blue smoke. He had no wife nor children, and nobody saw him die. The blue smoke drifted towards the crater in which the asteroid lay, and was absorbed into it's dweller.
All around the country in which the asteroid fell, the dead rose from their graves. Men and women with half of their flesh missing, but most with only bones magically joined together. They ravaged the country, and as they went fire and destruction went with them. The first Walking of the Dead corrupted many creatures, and yet the crater where the asteroid fell kept on burning. After the Dead were pushed back to the graves in which they spawned, soldiers investigated the crater. But when they got near, their minds burned, their skin rotted and they emerged as the Undead.
The land around the crater died, turning black and lifeless. And yet it burned on, and the asteroid still burns, and it will do for eternity.
Chapter IV: The Second Fall, and the Awakening
The crater was not forgotten. Humanity was still trying to uncover it's mystery, scholars from all over the world came to visit. The Undead were a pest, but not an obstacle. A year later, another asteroid fell. It hit in one of the adjacent countries to the original asteroid. Again, the land died and the Dead rose. But this time, the first fire stirred. There was an explosion, shaking the whole country, and a creature emerged from the first crater. It's body was huge, a monstrosity that resembled a large, muscular human with half it's flesh and bone hanging off, and six arms, each with deadly claws. Spikes protruded from it's back, horns from it's head. It was a fiend, and the first Demon the world knew.
The Dead were doubled, and the Demon launched an attack on everything around him. His footsteps dug holes into the ground, and when he drunk from the oceans and rivers his wounds were healed. Skeletal fiends were puked from his maw of a million sharp razor teeth, and zombies crawled out of his path of destruction. He headed towards the second fire, without care for the humans in his path.
At one point, a valiant castle stood in his way. With a massive roar of fire, the entire city fell to flames, the sky turned dark despite it being midday, and the thick stone walls crumpled. Men and women fled, soldiers tried to defend them but were overrun by the masses of Undead that were constantly raised from dead and burning bodies. The Demon walked through the city, toppling the palace himself. Then he devoured the King, puking him back up as a large skeleton. He ordered this new fiend to lead the Dead against the human race, and then gave power from himself to the Skeleton King. The King was under the Demon's control, unwavering. He did as he was told, and led millions of dead against the country, spreading into adjacent countries.
The Demon continued on his path towards the second fire. But when he got close, he sensed something wrong.
The Demon was one of the ten heads of the creature that birthed the universe. The explosion that created the ball of fire had only weakened the heads and separated them. In a wrest of control, one of the heads belonging to the Shape of Destruction, the seven heads that hated life, had separated from the ball of fire which was it's prison. Then he had unwillingly crashed into the world, sleeping until another of his brothers crashed into the same planet.
In a flash of bright light, a creature rose from the craters. He was merely a human floating in the air. But suddenly, wings burst from his back, a glittering sword erupted in his hands, and golden armor covered his skin. He was the second head of the creature -- but his origin was from the Trio of Life.
Despite the Demon being much larger then the Angel, and seemingly much stronger, it was a fair fight. Humanity watched as the fight between the two raged on for two days, until the Angel got the upper hand. He thrust his blade deep within the Demons' heart, sending it sprawling to the ground. The Angel stood triumphant, but a realization hit him. The Demons' could not be slain here. They, and he, had birthed this planet and it's people, and thus were immune to it and protected while in it's borders. The only place one of the former creatures' heads could be slain was inside the ball of fire, the prison.
The Demon jumped up, the same knowing coming to it. It thrashed and slashed at the Angel, but he continuously dodged the attempts. The Demon roared and sent the Angel flying towards the ground, impacting in an explosion. Now the Demon stood over him. But the Demon was smarter then the Angel, and grabbed him by the wings. They could not be slain anywhere but the prison. But what if there was another prison.
The Demon then swallowed the Angel whole, devouring him without chewing. The Angel struggled, but was trapped inside the Demon's body by it's foul intestines and blood. The Angel was drowned over and over, but never killed. Pain wreathed him. The Demon was too powerful for the Angel to break from it's imprisonment.
Chapter V: The Champions of Humanity
Despite not being able to break free, the Angel let his power seep out of the Demon's mouth without his knowing. For every human he devoured to sate his hunger, the human was let free inside his stomach. But the Angel gave them the power they needed to resist death. Soon, the Demon had a small army inside his stomach, slowly building their power. But they needed one more ingredient to breaking from the Demon's invincible grasp -- they needed hope.
Humanity attempted to bring down the Demon, using everything from catapults to trebuchets to stabbing wildly. But it was no use, the Demon was too strong. It was a brave King from a nearby country who gathered his army and the armies of three nearby countries. They marched towards the Demon, and were engaged in a terrible battle. But they lasted. Here was Hope.
The Angel's eyes shined with power and pride, and the Demon's stomach imploded. A dozen men came out, all wielding powerful blades, golden armor, and bright white wings. They were the Champions of Humanity, blessed by the original Angel. The Demon reached inside his own stomach and removed the Angel, throwing him towards the ground. The Angel was exhausted from giving the twelve men his power. The Demon noticed this a swung his claws at the Angel on the ground. But in an instant, the Angel jumped up, his wings growing twice the size. He flew up and flapped his wings once in a strong motion. Bright white winds flew out in all directions. The Dead exploded in their positions, and the wounds of men and women were healed, their dead rising as new and resurrected fighters.
The Demon slitted his eyes and swung his fist into the ground, crushing a few soldiers. When he lifted his fist, though, a small pile of bones sitting underneath a skull appeared. The bones shifted, and stirred. Eventually, the Skeleton King was floating in front of Humanity's army. The Skeleton raised his large flail and swung it into the ground. A massive earthquake shook the battlefield and huge cracks appeared, glowing orange and bursting fire everywhere. The Dead climbed out of the hell holes. Humanity went to war.
Meanwhile, the 13 Angels attack the Demon. Their combined might resulted in him having to fight with all his strength. He was a powerful foe, but the angels managed to weaken him. As humanity beat down the remainder of the Dead forces, the Skeleton was struck down by human heroes. His lifeless bones disappeared in a wisp of blue smoke.
The Demon had wounds all over his physical form. He cursed the Angels, and spoke in a loud booming voice that shook the humans off their feet.
"You think you have won, Angel? You have given power to your petty humans. Though my army of the Dead outnumber yours, you have succeeded in weakening me. But what about all the others?"
The Demon jumped up into the air and swung down his fist with massive force, striking the ground and rupturing a massive split through the world. From it, the Dead rose again, in three times as many numbers. The Skeleton King also rose out of the crack, and floated above it, leading the army of bones.
"You cannot defeat death, nor someone that can stop it."
The humans were pushed back and defeated, and the Angels flew down to aid them against the dead foes. The Demon had played his part well. The Angel had chosen Humanity as his champions, which meant that he had an army of mortals. Though they could defeat the Undead, since they were only them resurrected, they couldn't harm the Demon. But the Demon empowered the Dead as his champions, and because the Dead were technically not mortals, they could do harm to the Angels. An unfair fight. But the physical prowess, strength and weapon skill the Angels possessed brought down the Dead swiftly.
The Demon stepped forward ... and was suddenly thrown backwards by an impossibly strong force. He struck the ground with his back, causing a minor earthquake. As he sat up, he saw that everyone else had been thrown backwards so that there was a massive circular clearing in the middle of them. The Demon looked up and saw three asteroids flying towards the ground in the middle of the clearing.
They hit with a massive impact. The remaining alive humans that survived the throw-back were instantly killed or wounded, until only about five hundred where left alive. There was no Undead around, since the frittle bones would've been destroyed by the explosion.
The Demon stood and walked over to the crater. It couldn't be called a crater, rather a hole going down into the planet.
Soon, the remaining humans, the thirteen angels and the Demon were staring at the crater to see what would emerge. The humans were tiny compared to the towering Demon and the hole. Despite being the same size as the humans, the Angels appeared more menacing and larger.
Slowly, an Angel rose out of the hole. His purple wings flapped, and his shining purple armor and huge, spiked mace marked him as an Angel. He looked around, saw the other thirteen angels, and then the Demon.
Chapter VI: The Other Two Arrivals
The purple angel flew over and joined the others of his kind, engaging in conversation with the original angel. While they did this. The Demon watched a orange-colored angel fly out, and similarly joined the other two. Silence.
The Demon began to laugh. Everybody looked at him. The Angels thought him crazy, while the humans still feared him.
"Why do you laugh, foul beast? Can't you see that we outnumber you?" said the original angel. The Demon continued to laugh, and then stopped suddenly. He punched the ground near the hole and smiled, revealing his razor sharp teeth.
"Three asteroids, two angels," he said.
The three angels looked at each other with doubt. There was only three heads that sought life, and thus there should only be three angels. Which meant that the third asteroid that had fallen, the fifth asteroid all up, was another Demon.
"Rise, brother. Let us remove these wretched angels from the world," the Demon said, and punched the ground again. This time, after the small earthquake, something growled in the hole. It was a menacing growl.
And then a naked figure rose from the hole. He floated midair and looked around. He was the size and shape of a human, albeit more muscular and taller, yet his face was pale. Very pale, almost bright white. Two horns protruded from his bald scalp. He wore nothing.
The purple angel flew forward and attacked. But before he could swing his blade, the white man's chest exploded in fire. Three black tentacles erupted out and grabbed the angels arms and legs, then swung him to the ground. The tentacles sunk back into the man's chest, and then six more erupted from his back, much like the angels' wings. The onlookers watched in fear as the man's white chest stitched itself back together. And then, he opened his mouth. Black air came out, and continued coming out. It weaved around his body, forming a shape, until there was a thin black and white robe covering him. It looked like something a rich man would wear, but it's constant moving (despite the white man remaining motionless) made it menacing and destructive.
The man raised both of his hands and the skin began to melt away. His hands evaporated, and two black tentacles took their place. His feet remained the same a humans', except of course their pale color.
The angels gathered and prepared themselves for the fight. The original Demon walked up behind the white man, who looked back and took in the Demons' natural muscular form and power, and his stomach which was open. He turned around to see the fifteen angels, and opened his mouth.
Instantly, a swarm of locusts protruded from his mouth and covered one of the human-angel hybrids. They bite and devoured his skin, and after ten seconds flew back into the white man's still-open mouth. The angels' faces went white as they saw what had become of the former angel. A pile of bones, no wings, no armor, no weapons. The locusts had devoured everything but the bones. The skeleton fell down to the ground and scattered. But the Skeleton King, who was floating beside the white man now, had seen an opportunity. He pointed his staff at the remains and instantly saw them coming together again. They formed to make the skeleton, and a black robe much like the white mans covered the bones.
But this time there was a hood but stretched up over the skull. When the robe and hood were complete, you could see nothing of the figure, not even the face, since the hood cast shadows over the opening. A large scythe formed in the monstrosities hands, and he floated up to stand beside the Skeleton King.
"Harbinger of Death," said the Skeleton King to the former angel. "Angel reborn. Use your powers and destroy the humans below us."
The fiend swung towards the ground and landed, swinging his scythe to and fro. Once, a humans' sword struck the fiend in the chest. It went straight through the robe as if there was nothing underneath. The robe parted, leaving the fiend's upper body seemingly separated from his lower body. But the robe combined again, and the fiend continued to fight.
Chapter VII: The Great Separation of Three Worlds
The two Demons and the fourteen remaining angels clashed. The majority of the angels attacked the original Demon, who they thought was the supreme and more powerful one. But the more intelligent and braver angels took on the white man, who seemed to be enjoying himself at the sight of their pain.
At one point, the white man opened his mouth again, and locusts swarmed three angels, one amongst them who was the purple angel, the other two being human-angel hybrids. The hybrids' bones were instantly transformed into two more 'Harbingers of Death' by the Skeleton King, and joined the fray against the humans with the other. But the last group of locusts were still attacking the purple angel. He felt himself weakening, but found the power to thrust his blade at the white man's open mouth.
The white man's body instantly disappeared into black mists, but he reappeared behind the angel. The locusts flew back into his mouth, and the angel was left unscathed. The battle continued, with the white man singling out the purple angel for vengeance at a later date.
Little did they know it, but the angels and demons were creating two more worlds. Two more prisons, commonly referred to by the humans as Heaven and Hell. As they struck their enemies, blood seeped into the ground and sky. Roars echoed and created land in different dimensions. And suddenly, the bright ball of fire in the sky that was prison to five more Demons exploded. Five asteroids flung towards the ground. But when they hit, they went straight through and made no impact whatsoever.
Chapter VIII, Part I: The Great Separation, Demon Version
The original demon felt his feet fall, and the white man's floating halted. They fell through the ground, seeing all sorts of minerals and caves and lava. They passed the world core, moving at an impossible speed. But when they reached the spot where they should emerge on the other side of the planet, they fell into a massive wasteland of lava, red rock and mountains. The impact they made had no effect on them, nor on the world around them.
They moved up from their spots, the white man continuing his floating. Suddenly, five asteroids hit the ground in front of them, all in different spots.
"Our brothers' have arrived," said the white man. The original demon grinned like a wolf. "With their power and ours combined ... we can create a portal back to the humans world..."
"And destroy it, and the angels," finished the original demon. The white man laughed without humor.
Chapter VIII, Part II: The Great Separation, Angel Version
The angels all saw the world dissolve. They weren't moving, but the world was. Moving away from them. They weren't heading up, or down, or in any direction. They were in the same spot, in a different dimension.
Suddenly the ground appeared, a cluster of clouds that they could stand on. There were hills and mountains of clouds, rivers of liquid diamond that looked beautiful. Towers of gold and white stood out, a city constructed for them. They glanced around and noticed what they saw looking down -- they saw the world. Literally, they could only see the planet.
"We are guardians," said the purple angel. "The Demon's will try to find a way back, and I've no doubt they will."
"Then we will stop them, for humanity," concluded the original angel.
Chapter VIII, Part III: The Great Separation, Human Version
Humanity watched as the two demons were sucked into the ground, and the angels disappeared before them. The great chasms and cracks and holes that were made on the battlefield began to heal themselves, and soon they were standing on a hilly grassy surface.
Then they cheered, until they saw a pile of bones shifting and moving in the sunlight. The bones formed a man, with a crown sitting on his head. In his left hand, a flail. In his right, a staff with a skull on top.
Suddenly, the three 'Harbingers of Death' rose from the ground and stood in front of the Skeleton King, primed for battle.
"You win today, humans. But I will bring my master back into this world, and I will never stop maiming your countries, slaying your families, mangling your homes. Good bye humanity ... but not for long."
The Skeleton King and his three former angels disappeared in black mists. The humans watched, and began to walk back to their homes, satisfied that the Demonic and Angelic wars have ended.
