Attack Dice Bonus

This is in the upgrades, right? It will increase the base damage of your units, once you run the upgrade, up to the values you have placed. The default:
Attack Dice Bonus Base - 1 will increase the damage of your units by 1.
An example: Your unit has a damage of 2 - 2. If you set the Attack Dice Bonus Base to 50, the new value of your unit's damage will be 52 - 52.

There are 3 categories: Damage Base / Damage Number of Dice / Damage Sides per Die
Basically a unit gain its damage by using this following calculation
( Damage Base * Damage Number of Dice ) + Damage Sides per die = YOUR UNIT DAMAGE

No, no. It's (Damage Base + Damage Numbers of Dice) - (Damage Base + Damage Numbers of Dice * Damage Sides per Die).

So with Damage Base = 10, Damage Numbers of Dice = 2, and Damage Sides per Die = 4, the damage of the unit will be 12 - 18.

Wait! Not yet. Nobody explains how the math is once there is an upgrade.
It has been solved for nearly 13 years, though.
And what is there so complicated about upgrades that you cannot test it yourself?

Anyway, for the sake of completeness, the damage upgrades like 'Iron Forged Swords' just add bonus to the following field:
  • Combat - Attack N - Damage Number of Dice
The upgrade's 'Attack Dice Bonus - Base' is bonus for the first level, the 'Attack Dice Bonus - Increment' is for the following levels (2 and 3).

As example, Footman has following stats:
  • Base damage: 11
  • Damage number of Dice: 1
  • Damage Sides per Die: 2
  • Final damage: (base + number_of_dice) - (base + number_of_dice * sides_per_die) => (11 + 1) - (11 + 1*2) => 12-13
If you have a 3-level upgrade like Iron Forged Swords, but modify the following fields to these values:
  • Attack Dice Bonus - Base: 3
  • Attack Dice Bonus - Increment: 2
Then for the following upgrade levels the footman will have the following stats:
Level 1 researched:
  • Base damage: 11
  • Damage number of Dice: 1 + 3 (from the research) = 4
  • Damage Sides per Die: 2
  • Final damage: 15-19
Level 2 researched:
  • Base damage: 11
  • Damage number of Dice: 1 + 3 (from lvl1 research) + 2 (from lvl2 research) = 6
  • Damage Sides per Die: 2
  • Final damage: 17-23
Level 3 researched:
  • Base damage: 11
  • Damage number of Dice: 1 + 3 (from lvl1 research) + 2 (from lvl2 research) + 2 (from lvl3 research) = 8
  • Damage Sides per Die: 2
  • Final damage: 19-27

Excuse me!!!!! THIS IS AN INSULT ⛔⚠️

You might be the greatest of moderators or administrators of the HIVE. But I think you don't have a silver-tongue like everyone else.

There are people like me who are confused at math but still interested in understanding new things.

Why didn't you yell at the author the insult you threw at me?

This is in the upgrades, right? -defskull said so I tried to find the corresponding confirmation. Yet I saw everyone's finished at explaining the math of base damage only. So I pointed a possible loophole.

My first language is not English. But I didn't intend to make anybody feel uncomfortable when I said that.

I understand that administrate a website is very frustrated but insulting lesser member because of confusion IS NOT AN ATTITUDE/ACT OF A RIGHTEOUS PERSON.

Thank you for your very detailed explanation of the upgrade's math.

Wow, you blew up pretty nicely.
I am not an admin nor a moderator, so sadly, I don't have to use my silver tongue skills :ogre_hurrhurr:
You write that I 'yell' at you, yet you write in caps including a bunch of exclamation marks. I also fail to see where I insulted you.

I too did not know how upgrades for melee unit's damage worked, but I literally just created a new map, placed a footman in it and observed the change to Footman's damage whenever 'Iron Forged Swords' upgrade was researched. Then checked the field names for the upgrade in object editor and matched them to the field names for the footman unit in the object editor.

You are free to asks questions here, of course, since it is what the forums is for. On the other hand, some information can be discerned by reading the names of the various fields in object editor and little bit of testing.
A field called 'Stats - Hit Points Maximum' will be related to unit's health, it will logically have nothing to do with mana. In same manner a field called 'Attack Dice Bonus' will likely have something to do with unit's 'Damage - Number of Dice' or 'Damage - Sides per Die' fields.

Thank you for your very detailed explanation of the upgrade's math.
You're welcome

After you necroed a thread and got a detailed answer, you've been rude to the helper even calling the user rude. Please do not do that in the future.
1a. Why don't you ask the reason why I have felt insulted at first? Yet defending him so naturally, although I am a newcomer unfamiliar to many things here compared to Nichilus who is very loved by many important and famous members of the HIVE.

1b. Maybe I forgot this is an international website where others have their own cultures and customs, so I acted as if his word: "And what is there so complicated about upgrades that you cannot test it yourself?" had the same effect and purpose as those in my own country - which sounds exactly like "What kind of person are you?" literally in English (with very very bad attitude).

I'm not sure if in your country the way Nichilus talked to me was either totally normal or friendly.

Imagine the reversed things happening to you guys.

2. I don't know that pulling up a long forgotten thread is something that shouldn't do in the HIVE. I remember I told you that politely & sincerely once or twice. Yet, you keep repeating it like the "I don't know that" means nothing to you and you wanted to hurt me so bad because of doing so.

Imagine being a confused newcomer in such situation.
